The "ludicrousness" or "rediculousness" of China's claims/veiled threats is directly proportional to how they react in the future. If they choose to support the Taliban with equipment and/or manpower, it would throw a proverbial monkeywrench into an action in Afghanistan. That said, I don't expect China to do so. They do raise a valid concern though, that being whether the proposed action is a violation of Sovereign rights as defined by International law.

Usually when a foreigner commits a criminal act within one's country, the victim country seeks extradiction of the perpretrators. If there is no Extradiction Treaty between the 2 countries, the criminal(s) are considered beyond the reach of the victim country. IMO, China has expressed some very valid concerns, concerns that all of us should consider or at least be aware that yet another tennet of International law maybe struck down unilaterally.

k, let me make this analogy to try to draw to you guys, the relationship between China and Tawain (Remember your SATs?)

China:Taiwan
US:Cuba

pretty much the same situation. So I guess, if you don't see the hypocrisy in China's statement, I guess it'd be alright for us to start launching stuff around Cuba right?

And naw, I'm not afraid of Taiwan, I just think China is an uber-dumb state heh. I'll criticize them every single chance I get.

Taiwan was never part of China. So China's babble of the need to respect another's sovereignty is empty...

and it becomes even dumber when China doesn't even recognize the sovereignty of the Taliban regime...yet, they're announcing a need to respect that sovereignty....so....err....what are they talking about?

Well, Taiwan actually was part of China. It was after the civil war that the communist took over the mainland, and the other party went to Taiwan.
And I am not saying we should treat them as one country now. Whatever they do, I can care less.

The only principle Red China has is that it is anti-American. They will bend law, morals,.....anything, just as long as it is anti-American in sentiment. They are a country ruled with an iron fisted government, unfortunately, a stupid and blind one.

Exactly SinMen, so Taiwan was never part of the People's Republic of China, so how can they say that Taiwan is a part of their state? Not like Taiwan EVER complied to the People's Republic. The Republic of China (Taiwan) even, has always had, their own republican government...so basically no, the Republic of China never belonged to the People's Republic of China.

Now if you want to talk about history, then we might as well include the various colonial forces that had controlled Taiwan at one point or another, and if we get into that argument, then you can also say that, yeah, Taiwan can also be claimed by the French, or the Japanese - and that would be a very far fetched argument.

I'm gonna be humbly quiet on the hypocrisy issue. All governments statements are hypocritical by nature. My comments were brought forth by your steering the subject to the Taiwan issue. I am personally very focused on the WTC issue at the moment, that any other issue seems trivial or irrelevant to me. The reality is that China's public statements almost always reek of bullsh!t.

Let's have a semantical arguement on another issue.
