From what I've read over the years, nearly 100% of the illegal...fentanyl and carfentanyl comes from China to Mexico to the USA. I suspect most of the legal fentanyl comes from Chinese labs as well. They make a HUGE percentage of the legal pharmaceuticals in this country.

That's the double edged sword of reaping the rewards of being a global superpower, you end up depending on other countries when you exploit them for their resources instead of using your own to make the stuff.

I don't really have an issue with the author's argument (they're the one admitting there isn't actual data for this which is kinda a problem on its own), and ultimately they're trying to stop the alarmism about China (and instead work with them), so if that was your takeaway from the article you very very obviously did not read it.
