Chinese tourists at a buffet

In fact, anyone living in the States with a Chinese mother can probably relate to what I wrote above.

Too broad to generalize all of China. HK is China and the people there have their own negatives that don't fit with others. Interestingly, they also see themselves as "above" mainland China. I can see their point of view, but they need to check themselves too.

We've got our own wacky rules like that with business meals.
Something about finishing a meal completely is showing others in your group that you're poor, or some BS like that?
Or there was my thread about the "correct" order of operations to use when cutting steak, which even generated a few strong reactions.

Some obsessive behaviors end up weaving themselves into a culture and become considered "normal" after awhile.

Mainland Chinese is the East equivalent of the Americans of the West. I hear the same complaints about them as tourists. Loud and obnoxious.

Nothing compares to the fat woman I seen at Golden Coral picking her teeth with a fork. I so hate that place. I go out and eat at least 3-4 times a month and Golden Trough is off the list. Although, my parents were there last month for their prime rib deal, and they said the food was pretty good. But I refuse to eat there.

When I was a dish washer at a Chinese restaurant I can't tell you how much food I scraped off plates. The damn trashcan must have weighed close to 300 pounds at the end of the day.

Back when I lived in Cali. and traveled to Vegas all the time the buffets were the bomb. I haven't been back since circa '94, but I hear not only is Vegas damn expensive, but the buffets suck now.

Chinese are usually rated as worst tourists (except the really rich ones who empty out an Hermes store in Paris and buy everything) and the Japanese are usually rated as the best tourists. Americans are sometimes rated near the top and sometimes near the worst.

Those decent $2-3 buffets are long gone. They're expensive and terrible now.

On those effing occasions I am required to go into the office for some special center meetings there is food being served. You should see the people go after the food like it was their last f-ing meal. These are people in Atlanta making high-five and to middle six figures. Its pizza, not some rare food item in limited supply. BTW, extreme few chinese in this 350-400 person center.

My favorite is the Sunday Champagne Brunch at the Top of The Mark in San Francisco.

It's classy and you eat what you want. I've never seen anyone pig out. It's more the total experience than it is an act of consumption.

I was somewhere for work and IHOP was having some kind of free-pancake-day promo thing going. The people there looked like they could probably manage to afford a few dollars worth of pancakes, yet it looked like a food ration line in a developing nation.

The Chinese are horribly selfish.

Selfishness is a HUMAN TRAIT. Not limited to Chinese.

Heck, I've seen my share and find American's to be some of the most selfish people around.
