I have a small chip on the hood of my car and I've been unable to successfully touch it up. I know that the chip is upsetting airflow and hampering gas mileage. I have therefore decided to completely sand blast the entire car and then repaint it from scratch. My question is: should I use three coats or four. The reason I ask is that the fourth coat will increase the weight of the car by several ounces and I've calculated that it will inhibit gas mileage almost as much as the chip's airflow upsetting has done so far.
