Looks like AMD is in Disarray if this is true, as always they over promise and under delivery. They probably didn't expect Nvidia to have so many Titan chip available and are now scrambling to compete. They lost to Intel on the CPU and now the just lost to Nvidia on the GPU side.

Well they have offered both better performance per $ and better overall GPU performance than Nvidia for almost a year so if that's underperforming in your opinion then I wonder what performing well is? I bought Nvidia's 7800GTX 512mb and a month later the X1900 XTX released $100 cheaper and pissed all over my over priced turd, lets hope for a repeat of that show but without me buying the crap card by mistake.

There is no way the Pro part is going to have a different memory architecture than the XT. I call complete FUD on this "Leak."
True, or maybe there is a 2500+sp part, an Olympian or other mythical god named sku above the XT? Thats something AMD would do :$

honestly if this leak is any true, if the prices are true, it brings very little as far as performance per dollar. I expect the prices to already creep down slowly as the year progresses anyway.....

really.....why do they even have prices at all? Thats not right!!!
That is typically something decided right before launch, based on the market at that time. I mean those prices look good if it where launching today, but next quarter? How, why, and what is it doing there?

The more i look at this, its just not adding up. The 8850 looks all wrong, the convenient prices, the launch time-frame. Its not adding up. It looks to be fud.

I do expect AMD to have GPUs coming, i expect them the in the timeframe well all thought before this "leak". Q4 at the earliest. This "leak" is full of flaws that just dont add up to me. If it does turn out AMD has a full lineup launching in July, i will be so happy i will eat my hat.

Nvidia does it all the time, so why not AMD?

ROPs are typically tied to memory controllers, but if I remember correctly the 7970's ROPs were not, that is why it has the odd 384 bit memory bus and 32 ROPs. How hard would it be for AMD to couple the ROPs back to the memory controllers and add a few to the chip? What makes me wonder more so is AMD building just this one card around the "Curaco" chip... that seems odd to me.

Then the rest of the line up looks like a refreshed and tweaked Pitcairn, maybe..?

Even if it is fake, it is nice to see the rumor mill moving. Usually that means that new parts are getting closer, at least.

Exactly what I was thinking. The rumor mill generally indicates something is coming, even if the leak isn't 100% accurate - so that's good in a sense. Whether it does indeed happen in Q3, who knows. Additionally, I wouldn't be quick to discount well known sources of leaked information on chiphell. More often than not, a lot of that information has SOME basis in reality because these guys do not care about NDAs, and being close to the supply chain in China/TW means they can get fairly accurate information. The 7970 and 680 were no exceptions - the rumor mill started for those parts in a similar fashion with chiphell leaks. So while nobody can say for sure if this is accurate, I definitely hope AMD has something up their sleeve. Nvidia has my money already (680s and just bought the 780), but it will be nice to see AMD in the game.

I don't know if AMD is still AMD, and by this I mean whether they still have issues with incompetent management - it seems like there have been recent efforts to fix this with new hires and what not, but assuming they fixed those issues....I would say that they're definitely working on speeding up release on whatever their next gen part is. They know the GTX 770 (and 760) has the potential to be painful to their sales, and while they can maintain sales with futher price cuts...they need new parts. So if they can minimize any damage done, i'm sure they will.

If that gives any clue, AMD gaming and AMDs GPU board partners said on their facebook:
Only one more week until Computex in Taipei begins. We've got some special announcements planned so stay tuned!
It seems AMD are preparing to make some exciting announcements at Computex which will take place next week!

i really hope this is true then we can ban Cloudfire777 as a troll who adds zero value.

For that you can take the next week off.

This is almost the best part of the GPU consumerism, speculating and waiting for the next big thing.

7970, fun to wait, overpriced.
Titan, was fun to speculate, released and no more fun. Enjoy the rapeage.
780 was fun too, overpriced though.

8970/9970, waiting for it to reverse the abysmal $/performance figures. Who knows if AMD will just price it "just" under whatever it's beating which already has poor $/performance ratio.

This doesn't look like a monster...looks like a 7970 XTX...If they doubled the SPs or something...THEN it might be a monster, but they didn't. I doubt this is AMD's next gen...seems more like a refresh.

It looks like it going to be similar to 7790. That means better mining gear!

I am curious if they decide to rush, if we will have another situation like the Ghz edition cards. They will be in such a hurry to release to compete with the 780, several months later, they will get them binned correctly and release a faster part.

Kinda shocked that this hasn't been brought up yet, but AMD APU hardware is whats powering the Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U. That makes AMD GPUs the baseline for gaming for the next couple years at least.

If true, this does looks like a refresh of the existing arch which is the only thing they can do at this stage (IMO). The option of leaving GTX 780 alone at the top is a bad one because top end products if successful can have a positive effect on te rest of the line up.

If this were true, are they just going to dump the not-perfect curacao's?

Without making a judgement on this particular rumor, I agree AMD would be foolish to leave their lineup unchanged through the end of the year. They obviously have the next couple of generations in the pipeline so if they were originally planning to release the 7000 series replacement in Q1 2014 they have a lot of incentive to move that forward.

Fake. Also the HD8xxx is used for OEM cards.

Who cares about the moniker. They could use anything they want, that's just to put it in an understandable format. You could elaborate too anyway if you're so knowledgeable about it being fake. :hmm:
