Chipotle burrito or Hot Head burrito?

My sister says she will treat me to some Mexican food tonight. I have two choices of either Chipotle or Hot Head Burritos. I have never had them both and have no clue what to expect.

I am thinking of going with a burrito.

My main concern is what type of meat (pork, chicken, spicy, barbacoa etc.) is the best one to pick? Which restaurant has the most flavorful meat in your opinion?

Any tips for a first timer?

HHB seems to be more of a local thing as I've never seen or heard of that place. Chipotle, OTOH, is a large chain restaurant.

I'm sure you can't go wrong with either one. I eat Chipotle probably once per week as it's fast, convenient and quite a bit of food for the price.

Never heard of HHB.

For Chipotle, I prefer the carnitas over everything else.

404: Mexican not found.

If someone "treating me to Mexican" said I had to choose either of those, I'd treat myself to a new friend.

With that said, I enjoy Chipotle, but refuse to eat there. There ain't no way I am waiting 20+ minutes for that when I can go to a sitdown place and get my food in the same amount of time. Granted, it isn't totally their fault, as the places around here are always packed.

After going to a local Mexican place for burritos and tostadas, I loathe going back to Chipotle because of their bland burritos.

I'm not a big fan of Chipotle either. There are at least three local/regional peel & eat burrito joints in town that are better.

If you like a burrito overstuffed and contains 80% rice soaked in lime sauce, 10% beans, and 10% meat + flavorings, then go to chipotle.

(I'm not saying its' bad - in fact its pretty good. I have no idea what the other joint is so I can't compare)

Given the choice between Chipotle and anything else I'd go with the anything else. HHB actually looks pretty good, too bad there are none within 1000 miles of here.

Well, I've been to Chipotle, and looked through the menu for Hot Head Burritos.

As a long time SoCal resident, Chipotle is not a great burrito. However, HHB offers hot sauce options including "Honey BBQ", "Ranch" and "Horseradish" to put on a burrito.

These people are heretics to be scourged with fire and whips, I'm shocked it isn't criminal.

So pick Chipotle, they may not be the best burrito, but at least they are not vile apostates selling evil in a tortilla.

I am picking Chipotle. Trying the Carnitas Burrito meat. No rice in it though.

Their carnitas are dry and not proper, but I've had real carnitas.

If you're anywhere in the states of CA, TX, NM, NV, or Arizona, just go to a roach coach. It is literally a hundred thousand times better than Chipotle.

Chipotle is about as close to Mexican food as Chun King is to Chinese food...maybe less.

No idea about HHB...never even heard of that one. Why not find a real Mexican restaurant?

I have never been disappointed by Chipotle [food]. I'm fucking fanatical about that place.

Highest quality ingredients possible for a chain to acquire. They're very proud of that.

- Burrito
- Rice
- No beans
- Fajita veggies
- Chicken (cheaper and more consistent)
- Any salsa (corn is good)
- Cheese
- Sour cream

I'm in heaven.

Having looked at the HHB web site and menu and noting that 90% of them are located in Ohio, I'd go with Chipotle.

Unfortunately, in my area, it isn't fast at all.

That's right. Waiting in line for 10+ minutes is part of the Chipotle experience. Every one I've been to is so popular, it's very rare to find a reasonably short line that doesn't wrap around be whole restaurant.

Does it really take 20+ minutes to get a burrito nowadays? When I went to the Chipotle by the Glen during high school ~8 years ago I could usually get a burrito in 5 minutes. There has been a ton of development in that area though.

I like Chipotle, but acknowledge that it is what it is. It's not extraordinary nor authentic Mexican, but it is tasty. :\

Also, I love Hot Heads, more so than Chipotle. However, I have actually never had a burrito there, at least, not that I can recall. I always get a burrito bowl.

They also set themselves apart of the other places by having an assortment of sauces you can add at the end. I love their spicy barbacoa, which really, is just their barbacoa that they then add one of their sauces to.

And like Moe's Southwest Grill, another competitor that I do prefer over Chipotle, Hot Heads offers a queso that you can either get in a cup or on whatever you are ordering for a little extra. Ooo so tasty.

Are any of them authentic? No, they are more Texmex, perhaps even more neutral. Who cares? Think of it as food, not something as specific as Mexican food. Can't it exist as food inspired by, and still be tasty?

There was a very similar place I did go to in Cleveland when visiting for work once, and it was quite a bit more authentic. Honestly, I actually didn't enjoy my burrito bowl there nearly as much as the two I've mentioned, but I've only had it once and it could have been the combination I went with. I think they were just a local place downtown, as I didn't recognize the name and I cannot remember it.

My favorite is birria (slow cooked goat), that will be hard to find. My favorite day to day is Al Pastor, its essentially pork shawarma (spinning meat cooked on a stick, like gyros if you do not know shawarma.)

Most Mexican places have tacos al pastor.

Chipotle is tasty. Never had hot head.

Chipotle treats their workers like shit. I would not eat there. Google it

I was excited about an opportunity to go to Chipotle about a month ago and was disappointed to find that they closed at 6PM for the employee Christmas party. They were giving up real money so their FF employees could attend a Christmas party.

I was surprised.
