NS1 should be ashamed given he's in SoCal too. I mean, Chipotle or Poquito Mas? There's no comparison dude.

I go to both PM and Chipotle, dinner plates @ PM and 3 chicken hard tacos @ Chipotle. There is nobody in town doing a better hard shelled grilled chicken taco, NOBODY. Esp. 3 for $7.

The chicken @ PM is far worse than Chipotle, but the asada/carnitas is way better @ PM than Chipotle. The corn tortillas @ PM are also an abomination - they may be fresh pressed but they're still shit.

And to be perfectly clear, Chipotle can't be compared with the fantastic $1 al pastor street vendors (or other top tier taco vendors) which obviously offer a far superior and more authentic product, but you can't find a top tier taco vendors on any given corner during lunch time.

That said, I do go to a lot of different mexican places.

This entire meal, + a bag of chips + a large orange bang was $12.50.

I cleared 4 of these bad boys for the amazing sum of $10 this past week too

If I lived near a Chipotle, I would do this and nothing else.

Your turn, Quebert...

I live a minute walk away from a new Chipotle, I wouldn't eat there if they paid me. I'd eat at Chilitos before Chipotle. The last time I went to Chilitos was with a friend I saw a roach taking a swim in the salsa bar. I wouldn't eat Chilitos either though so it's a moot point. And my hatred has nothing to do with it not being authentic, some of my favorite mexican food is from bastaridized American influenced spots. Chipotle has zero flavor in their meat. If I have to add every topping they offer to give it flavor, fuck that. I had Filet Mignon tacos the other day. Meat + cheese + lettuce + hot sauce and they were perfection.

Really? "Sucks?"
Compared to what, out of curiosity?

compared to good tasting food. There are cities where Chipotle is the best tasting Mexican food, but that still doesn't mean it good tasting. I was in a BFE town where the best pizza was Little Caesars, does that make it good tasting? Chipotle's bland, overpriced and not authentic. I can deal with overpriced and non authentic, but I can't deal with bland, especially when it's overpriced and non authentic.

Isn't it 27 paid burritos (or $6 equivalents?)

Each month you need to purchase 11 times, with 2 of the 3 free entrees counting towards those 11, so that makes 9 paid burritos? 9x3 = 27.

It's not clear if the 3rd free burrito for hitting hot status can be used in the next month's "mild" status.

I believe the second and third months, the bonus burrito counts, so you'd buy 9 burritos the first month and 8 burritos the next two = 25 burritos.

Only because you know what real Mexican food tastes like.

NS1 should be ashamed given he's in SoCal too. I mean, Chipotle or Poquito Mas? There's no comparison dude.

What does Mexican food have to do with it?

As much as ATOT loves to pretend they are food snobs, most of you appear to have the palate of a 7 year old.

This.

I also find it funny how it is practically "cool" here to hate on Chipotle so hard. Not good enough to just not care for it, you gotta HATE it and compare it to "xyz" place while you're at it. Oh, bonus points for exaggeration too.

I have't eaten there near as much as I used to but mainly because I got lazy and didn't want to drive the extra distance there (extra 5 min trip). It is easily a healthier option than my other common lunch menu items though.

Haven't been back since the food issues, this won't change anything. If I go back it won't be to eat a ton of food to get something for free.

Chipotle has never made me sick.

but then, neither has Taco Bell.

I guess my little tummy must be immune to the effects.

It tastes just fine, isn't "bland", and price seems more or less on par with expectations. More expensive than Taco Bell, a bit more expensive than Taco John's, less expensive than a sit-down place.

I don't hate it because it's cool. I actually used to eat there quite a bit.

I hate it since they started trying to kill their customers. But hey, they had a staff meeting about it so I'm sure everything's cool now.

Ok sorry, it's bland compared to every other Mexican place in my area (a lot) No it's not bland if you add 3 different kinds of beans, salsa, Guacamole, Pico, Sour Cream & Cilantro. But all that shit added anywhere would make the food not seem bland. I've ordered the quesadilla from there. Meat + Cheese and the meat was almost totally flavorless, this was multiple times. They have no fucking clue how to marinate or season steak. Their chicken's worlds better, but is still pretty meh compared to a Juan Polo or Charo Chicken type place. I should be able to take a bite of just Carne and go "fuck this is delicious!" not "fuck! this needs some Sour Cream, Guac & 15 other items added to distract me from the blandness." I'd give them a pass if they were much cheaper.

will be going there for lunch today, thank god I don't live in one of those backwoods towns where Chipotle would be the beacon of flavor

I hate chipotle threads. It always brings out the (mostly Californian) wannabe food critics that piss all over anything popular. Your local places are better... good for you. It might shock you to find out that there's not a high concentration of Mexicans making authentic food in northwest Indiana so your opinion on the matter means diddly shit to me, and just siderails an otherwise good discussion.

It's always the same group of users, who otherwise don't just enter threads to say how much they hate something. I don't know why chipotle brings out the worst in you (and you know who you are) but you aren't going to convince anybody who goes there not to go there... so why bother?

I think it's already been said, but why is Chipotle being compared to local mexican places? Isn't that exactly the same thing as comparing Pizza Hut to a local pizza joint?
