I think it's already been said, but why is Chipotle being compared to local mexican places? Isn't that exactly the same thing as comparing Pizza Hut to a local pizza joint?

Yes, except with more ecoli. Ain't gonna stop me from going to chipotle tomorrow to get my card.

Chipotle's new loyalty program starts July 1st and runs for three months.

http://www.chipotle.com/chiptopia

If you were trying to get the maximum value from it, you'd have to buy 25 burritos. But you'd get 9 free burritos and catering for 20 (to be used before March 31, 2017).

If my math is right, then you'd have to eat Chipotle about once every three days for three months to get the free catering.

That's a lot of burritos.

Anyone here who will attempt it?

No.

I'm not that cheap.

Gonna get two cards. Eat lunch at the Chipotle by my work, and dinner at the one by my house.

Because Chipotle markets themselves as this high end, everything's fresh, organic, locally grown, GMO free and it's the best meat you can get uber food place. And they're very pricey, where as Pizza Hut doesn't bullshit you with what they offer, and they're extremely cheap. You can get pizzas for $5 each there right now. Pizza Hut's meh at best, but it's a lot cheaper than a mom and pops place. Chipotle's meh and a lot more expensive than the mom and pop shops. So they should be scrutinized because of this image they push on people. And it doesn't just suck compared to the authentic mom and pop spots. They suck compared to Americanized spots that serve shit like Nachos with pulled pork on them and pile loads of sour cream on everything.

But you live in Chula Vista: the armpit of San Diego!

Sorry, I don't live there. I'll be driving about 45 minutes to get there, then I'll be waiting in the Adobada line for another 30-45 minutes because the lines always down the block. A lot of time invested, but this is the greatest Adobada taco in the world by a immeasurable amount so it's more than worth it. When I use to live in Long Beach I'd routinely go to CV just to eat there, I know there are (were?) closer locations, but the CV one's the best one imho. But the worst Taco El Gordo's better than all but a few taco spots.

It costs me seven bucks (plus tax) to get a meal at Chipotle... most of the local mexican places around here will cost me at least that much.
It looks like you can get those Pizza Hut pizzas for $5 each, as long as you're ordering at least two. I guess ultimately you just plain don't like Chipotle, so you hold them to a different standard. Keep on truckin' and giving us reviews of the newest abominations from Carl's Jr!

OMFG

The one I went to in NYC by grand central had to be one of the dirtiest most ghetto Chipotle I've ever been to. That article describes a lot what I saw at this location. Thank baby Jesus I didn't get ill. Never again.

But the bird at that one was organic.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable reward for running that much salt through your system, sure.

They have some basic expectations from their food suppliers so you think they're going for high end uber food place? I think that's more to do with your own perception than anything else. I can't even remember the last time I saw an ad for chipotle anyway, so I wouldn't even claim they "market" anything.

Visit 1 in the bag. They had a guy going through the line promoting the rewards program so they don't hold up the line at the register. At the register, all they just said was "would you like a rewards card?" You have to register it online, so I didn't get free chips and guac today.

Yep, and each burrito or bowl is two full meals, so its like 4 bucks for a meal. Super cheap in all, really. Also ask for 2-3 soft taco shells and it will fill you up.
