Hi everyone!

i recently bought a DFI Infinity Ultra-II-M2, which works real nice! the only problem or difference that i have found on this mobo, is that the chipset temperature is long way
from what i was used to, I'm not an expert about hardware, but this was just unusual:

first of all, the environment average temperature is really hot in here, 35°C (95°F) during the day, and 25°C (77°F) during the night.

So my chipset temperature oscillates from 62°C to scary 68°C (143°F-154°F).

I do not know and I can't find information about this, i even wrote an email to DFI support, hopefully they will answer, eventually.

Also, i have not overclocked any of the components of my computer.

my system specs:
AMD X2 3800+ Windsor Dual Core
Corsair CM2X1024 2GB dual chann
ATI Radeon x600xt
seagate barracuda 320GB IDE
PSU - Antec TruePower 2.0 550 WATTS
DFI Infinity UltraII-M2

the nf4 chipsets run kinda hot.from what i understand 35c-65c is kinda a normal.of course cooler is always better with computers but if you stay under 65c you should be fine.i have an asus a8n-e board with a modified cooler on the nf4 chipset and my temps are 33-39c.i live in florida and its hot here too so you may want to see if you can put a better cooler on the chipset.

i'll try that, though it is hard to get good heatsinks in mexico, i'll see what i can do.

thank you, your reply helped me a lot, i hope more users come and share their experience with nf4 chipsets.

The NF4 chip often runs warm plus it is hard to say where the temperature sensor is located vs the NF4 chip so the indicated temp may differ between mobo's.

I decided my NF4 was running hot based on touching the heatsink. The indicated temp was about 38C. I tried several approaches and settled on a fairly large passive heatsink plus a nearby fan inside the case (see picture linked below). SpeedFan controls this fan and the CPU fan so noise is minimal and cooling is adequate. Temp now runs 31-34C depending on ambient.

Documented here: http://www.gadgetbuilder.com/Computer/ComputerCooling.html

A heatsink from an old 486 would work fine and should be available from a discarded machine. I had to machine a fin off the one I found and then drill a mounting hole but it worked fine.

well, i'll try to get a heatsink then! in the meantime, im worried i'm because i can't work during the afternoon, because it gets too hot (68-69°C) my question would be, would this damage my chipset?

i got into the BIOS menu, and one option was to turn off the computer when the chipset reaches the 80°C, it was the lowest temperature on which it should turn off the system, but, the smartguardian software, which came with the mobo software, starts beeping at 67°C, what should i do!!!! i really need to work during the day, hehe, thank you!
