I am running windows xp and NTFS file system. How do I run CHKDSK on startup. I have typed chkdsk c:/f at the run prompt and it says
"The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)"
I then type 'Y' and reboot. CHKDSK does not run as it says it will. I have a 45 gig hard drive and only one partition. Any ideas?
