So, as the U2711 will be out of my price range unless I can get it on sale for $799 and then a coupon on top of that (plus it's matte), I'm going to have to make due with one of three monitors I have on hand for my rearranged setup.
Purposes: Gaming, Writing, Video Editing (probably in that order nowadays). Average viewing distance ~2.2 feet.
A GTX 460 will be driving the main monitor, while the others will be slaved to a Quadro NVS 450. I usually run without AA, though I'm weird like that.
I can't really tell much of a difference in response time/ghosting between a modern TN with overdrive and a 1st gen PVA, so a TN's response time advantage in games is kinda moot for me.
Dell SP2309W (23" 2048x1152 16:9 glossy TN)
HP LP2475w (24"1920x1200 16:10 matte IPS)
NEC 20WMGX2 (20" 1680x1050 16:10 glossy IPS)
The NEC has the best image quality by far, but is only 20". The Dell has awesome PPI and sharp text, but is a TN and you better sit dead center vertically. I have managed to get decent colors out of it with calibration and tweaking, though gamma still is a little off sometimes. The HP is a nice all-around with good colors, but has low-ish PPI and sometimes exhibits weird color issues (left side sudden develops a blue hue, but goes away at random). It also doesn't work right via DVI when I hook up my MacBook Pro.
Anyone have any thoughts, experiences, or preferences on the above? Or, a good alternative monitor like the SP2309W but with IPS (I tried looking a while ago and asking, but couldn't find anything and nobody had any ideas)?
