5 churches attacked in Palestinian areas following Pope's comments on Islam ALI DARAGHMEH NABLUS, West Bank (AP) - Palestinians wielding guns and firebombs attacked five churches in the West Bank and Gaza on Saturday, following remarks by Pope Benedict that angered many Muslims.

No injuries were reported in the attacks, which left church doors charred and walls pockmarked with bullet holes and scorched by firebombs. Churches of various denominations were targeted.

Holy crap, these wackos don't even belong in the 15th century. No wonder their land is in such poverty, they spend more time defending their religion from made-up attacks than actually trying to do anything about their situation.

A positive note is that the Hamas guy denounced the attacks, and that they're actually going to defend the churches. But it still goes to show that while the shell may seem to be healthy, the insides are rotting.

EDIT: I really did laugh out loud at this excerpt:

In a phone call to The Associated Press, a group calling itself the "Lions of Monotheism" claimed responsibility for those attacks, saying they were carried out to protest the Pope's remarks in a speech this week in Germany linking Islam and violence.

These people might soon surpass Bush in terms of comedic value.

Even Araft knew what to say to the Western cameras, but when he was talking to his own people in Gaza -- YEEEHAAA -- he really knew how to work them up, and recite the ABCs of hatered and intolerance.

Well, here I don't think so. Palestinians have enough on their plate without killing each other. Call me crazy, but immediate denouncement from Muslim leaders has never been so quick before. Plus the fact that Palestinian police forces were immediately dispatched to protect the churches is a good sign.
