I'm pretty sure FOX made him sign a 500 page fine print NDA as Wallace was walking out the door. The way he engineered his exit is clearly his way of making a very loud and clear statement as to what and how he feels about FOX's blatant use of lies and deceptive programming without actually saying so.
After the contract is over, what use is there of a NDA? The NDA was probably signed 4 years ago when the contract was being negotiated and signed so probably nothing new.
But was it loyalty to Murdoch or to Roger Ailies like how Shepard Smith had a close relationship with Ailes?Meh, he knew what Fox was when he signed on but did it anyway. He stuck by Murdoch for eighteen years.

In all likelihood upper management knew exactly what his plans were as far as when he be leaving.My mentioning it was specifically in reference to the manner in which he bailed out of FOX, whereby the act of resigning so suddenly inferred that he was totally disgusted with and could not bear any longer the daily/hourly lies and deceptive propagandistic programming that was happening all around him such that he would be required to agree to an exit NDA that was well above and beyond what is normally stipulated in a cookie cutter NDA (recall my mentioning "500 pages long").

Fox is losing viewers to OANN and newsmax. It's been happening for a long time now. Fox is simply adapting to new times and purging last slivers of integrity they had. In the long run they'll be indistinguishable from OANN/Newsmax.I'm wondering how this will affect Fox News in the long run. The channel will probably find someone with less integrity, unfortunately, but the question is whether or not that change will help or hinder Fox ratings. Wallace's show wasn't the best-rated Sunday outing... but I'm not sure Fox's likely shock-jock replacement would fare any better.
