well.. I don't live in Dearborn so I'm not sure of what their Indian population is like. from what I've heard/read, it is a stronghold of arabs.. perhaps the largest arab population in the US... if there are any Indians there.. they are all muslims..

Unless the Christians actually attacked or used force against the muslims then the muslims were still wrong for attacking them.

If the Christians had hit the muslims then the muslims would be ok to defend themselves but that's not what happened, under freedom of speech people have the right to criticize any religion

I don't think freedom of speech means what you think it means. The 1st amendment guarantees that the GOVERNMENT won't limit your right to say what you want. If you're being a jackass and someone punches you in the face, he's not violating your freedom of speech rights, he's just attacking you. That attack may be unlawful, but it isn't a freedom of speech issue.

I don't know if I've ever heard a story where a group of non-Christians verbally baited a group of Christians like what happened in this case with Muslims. For that matter, our country as a whole has MUCH more negative things to say about Islam than Christianity. Anyone who thinks Christians in America face the same negative attitude as Muslims in America is clearly not paying very much attention.

That doesn't mean it's legally acceptable to attack someone who's being a douche about your religion, but I think the idea that Christianity is being oppressed, in general or in this particular case, is incredibly ridiculous.

I agree that attacking people (Christian or otherwise) isn't OK, and doing so should result in APPROPRIATE charges. But I don't quite understand the portrayal of this story as shocking, specific to Islam, or (most ridiculously) an example of a broader trend. I suspect it wouldn't be at all hard to get a similar reaction by verbally taunting many different groups of people. If we hear about it when Muslims are involved, maybe it's because people DO go after them this way while nobody runs around a gun show calling everyone an "overcompensating closet case".

I'm sure double standards exist in the world. But every single time I hear someone complaining about double standards, they're comparing hypothetical situations against a situation that DID actually happen. And, as in this case, the person doing the complaining is taking EXACTLY the same position they're opposed to other people taking in the hypothetical situation.

In other words, you're complaining about double standards with the media taking the side of hypothetical Muslim "protesters" in a similar situation, something that has never happened as far as I know, while you spent several pages taking the side of completely real Christian "protesters". I'm only seeing one double standard here, to be perfectly honest...

Problems with complaining about theoretical behavior aside, I feel like you're dramatically misjudging public/media reaction to Muslim activities. When building a community center in Manhattan is widely labeled as building a "9/11 ground zero victory Mosque", I somehow doubt public reaction would favor the Muslims in your hypothetical scenario of Muslims jackwagons disrupting a Christian festival.
