How can these people call themselves Christians when they have no tolerance for anyone that isn't as they interpret what a moral person should be? I'm sure that they are now going to run background checks on ALL members to ensure that they don't have someone that immorally breaks speed limit laws also. After all, they wouldn't want to have common criminals amongst the flock either.

School Expels Girl for Having Gay Parents

ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) -- A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.

Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.

"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.

Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.

Stob could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling.

School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.

Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.

Wow.....they have dedicated 22 years of their lives to a relationship. I wonder how many members of the church can make that same claim?

It's a Private School, as long as it doesn't receive any government money they can admist who ever they want for what ever reason they want. The moment they do receive any goverment assistance though then the whole thing changes or should change IMO.

Pretty much sums up my opinion on the matter.

Have to agree on this one. It's a private school. It's a ridiculous and narrow-minded decision by the school but it's up to them to decide their admission standards.

I disagree, in fact this is a case of walking the walk. It's their belief that homosexuality is a major sin and they are just adhering to their beliefs. As a private institution based on religious beliefs I can fully understand why they would do this.

Like I said, it's a ridiculous decision. It's just my opinion that a couple, that happens to have been living together for 22 years, is anything but immoral.

'tis true. Not a religious bone in my body. But, interestingly, my sister, who happens to have converted from Catholicism to Greek Orthodox, agrees with me on that issue.

How would this go though, if they for example expelled a student for having black parents?

It's exactly the same thing. But i have a feeling it wouldn't have gone over so well.

The child will get a better education as far away from so-called "Christians" like that as possible. Yet another good reason to root for the lions.

I dunno:

From now on people are going to think twice before choosing their parents.

About time.

They do have a legal right to do this. But in my eyes, as a Christian, I don't think it's right morally. WWJD? Turn the girl away? No. I don't think He turned anyone away, much less an innocent child. Homosexuality is as sinful as pre-marital heterosexuality. And all of us are sinners.

They like to make homosexuality a "hardcore" sin because it's one sin most don't have to worry about comitting.

The bad publicity will wind up hurting the school more. Like some of the posters above stated, it is a private institution that isn't required to act in a manner that meets stringent standards. In a free market system consumers will dictate the success of the school, and I don't think this publicity is going to boost enrollment.

I just wish I could find some clearinghouse list of schools and organizations that receive federal/state/local funding. It would then make it easier to see if, they indeed, have this right.

I suppose in your ideal world all "Christians" would be thrown to the lions hey? Some 'tolerance' from the left.. When Christians disagree with people, they ask them to leave.. When Harvey disagrees with people, he wants them dead.

Maybe we could go and actually execute these school Administrators before they do any more damage?

Its amazing how often the left of this forum wishes for the death of conservatives.. be it in jest or not, its still in horribly bad taste.

I agree with your sentiment, however the current administration's faith-based funding efforts are seeking to blur the line on this issue. For example, a Christian faith-based org receiving government funding for humanitarian efforts could discriminiate against employees by only hiring Christian workers. That could easily bleed into this particular scenario where a Christian school receiving federal dollars could discriminate against teachers and students.

It's probably only a matter of time if it isn't already happening.

Hopefully the exact same way. I'd imagine the Klan doesn't accept African-Americans, but I don't hear too much outcry from that.

Thank goodness for the rights and freedoms for morons to be allowed to practice their moronism in peace.

the funny thing about all these hardcore Christians is their complete intolerance of those who do not follow their beliefs, which is the EXACT opposite message of what Jesus Christ preached.

Some people have ethics and some dont. It is funny that when someone in this country stands up for their beliefs and their ethics that the immoral majority doesnt like it.

While I may not agree with the reason they expelled her,

How can these people call themselves Christians when they have no tolerance for anyone that isn't as they interpret what a moral person should be?

Christianity is not a melting pot of different moral believes for everyone to embrace. If the God of your religion gives you a set of rules, you would be stupid for not enforcing them. So your question doesn't make any sense.
