It'll be ham and stuff. Right now the wife is in improvisation overdrive. Our oven just broke and I can't get the part until after Christmas. Control board is overheating. She can bake/roast if there is a fan pointed at the front of the oven and you don't do any opening and closing (no cookies ). She said she will NOT be cooking tomorrow with a fan pointed on her. So, she can bake/roast today and reheat with what we have or do some McGyvering tomorrow: stove top + stand alone roaster + toaster oven + electric griddle + electric wok + slow cooker + gas bbq (I already shoveled a path in the snow).
I bet we come out unscathed.
This stove is only five years old and I knew coming in it was prone to have control board issues, but guess who didn't want a stove with that commercial look that every stove had except the Jenn Aire. Well, she got her way. Then she looks at me and says maybe we shouldn't be worried about sunk costs and should get another stove. I might have been a wee bit testy when I reminded her why we had this stove and that a replacement would be $1300 (slide-in) and this stove was $1600 because it's a convection and the part is only $200.Our stove was older then dirt and the door would not close tight. So there was no seal around the door to speak. In-laws asked what we wanted for Christmas and I said a stove. Lo and behold we have a new stove and it works great.
we do Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day brunch.
I made this last night for dinner tonight:
triple layer chocolate mousse cake... of course, I haven't taken it out of the pan yet, so we'll see if it actually looks like that tonight.
