christmas lights in dorm

heres a short vid of our christmas lights setup on my floor of one of the dorm's at UMR. pretty interesting, worth a look imho.

Damn that is awesome. How did you handle all of the timing?

each section (from one door to the next) is controlled by a little blue box with 6 outlets, one for each strand. all of the boxes are connected to a linux based pc at the end of the hall via 2 serial ports. that pc is also handling the music, thats why sometimes the lights respond the the music

not sure how long it took... we used the same control boxes from last year, and im not sure how long was spent writing the new code for the lights. physically putting them up took 3-4 hours per hall

full vid is a 180mb mpg, but i encoded it to a 73mb divx, then i just took a snippet out for you guys to see. theres more than just that stuff, lots of lights in the area directly behind the camera, lots of stuff in the lounge. the halls are the coolest though.
