Its up to the parents to remind kids what Christmas is about...

That Santa died and rose again, overcoming death, so that we may have debt.

There is such a thing as too much Xmas. Decorating your house and yard with Xmas decorations, and playing Xmas music on the radio is fine, but not when it's fvcking November 1st!

If it weren't for my children's sake, I'd have nothing to do with the damned thing...

This whole commercial holiday business is silly. The holidays are all the same, only the colors are different. The store trappings are similar for each holiday - candy, lights, decorations, "gifts", hats etc. The timing is off - you know it's finally Summer when the Back to School things are in the store. In our family we call it "Store Christmas" which started a month or two ago and is one of the longer store holiday seasons.

I find it amusing, and good for bargains. Gotta love Target's 90 per cent off sales.

After the political commercials, the holiday ones are a relief.

well in this country we seem to have the hand out sponging minorities at our necks trying to ban christmas because it offends their faith or isnt PC or something like that. i mean they chose to come to england for a new life....as far as im concerned they are guests in my country, i dunno what makes them think they have the right to destroy english traditions because it doesnt suit them....go back to albania or where ever if u wanna live like that, your in my country and you'll adhere by our rules and tradition.

i know if i went to a middle eastern country and wanted it to be all british i'd probably get shot or stoned or locked up. i'd have the decency and respect to fit in with how they live and not try to force how i live onto them in their own country. blair and his cronies are push overs

ontop of that the PC crew are trying to ban local traditional sayings that have been used for decades if not centuries. especially here in the north we have alot of local sayings that you wouldnt understand if u didnt live here.

basically in a bid to become multi-cultural and adapt as best we can to other faiths needs/requests the government is pretty much wiping out all british culture and i dont like that. these immagrants should STFU and adapt to US not us adapting to them...they chose to come here, thats a sacrifice you have to make......though it seems they want to be beggars and choosers

We shut our TV off a year ago and have never looked back. I am hardly exposed to any of that marketing any more which is great. I'll be playing golf on black friday............

Christmas is no longer about Christ|

And it never was.

Christmas has its origins in several pagan holidays. The celebration known as Saturnalia included the making and giving of small presents (saturnalia et sigillaricia). This holiday was observed over a series of days beginning on December 17 (the birthday of Saturn) and ending on December 25 (the birthday of Sol Invictus, the "unconquered sun"). The combined festivals resulted in an extended winter holiday season. Business was postponed and even slaves feasted. There was drinking, gambling, and singing, and nudity was relatively common. It was the "best of days," according to the poet Catullus.

During the time in which Christianity was spreading throughout the Roman Empire, another similar religion known as Mithraism was also gaining widespread acceptance. The followers of Mithraism worshipped Mithras, a god of Persian origin, who was identified with Sol Invictus. [citation needed] The followers of Mithraism, consequently, adopted the birthday of Sol Invictus as the birthday of Mithras. In 274 AD, due to the popularity of Mithraism, Emperor Aurelian designated December 25 as the festival of Sol Invictus.

Thats cool. But thats the festival of Sol Invictus, not Christmas. Just because they're both the 25th doesn't make them the same celebration.
They are, I assure you, more or less the same celebration. What we think of as Christianity is actually Sol Invictus/Mithra worship with the backing of selected parts of the various Jewish religious texts, plus pagan Mother Goddess and Her Undying Son worship, along with some highly revised early Christian teachings (what day is the Christian sabbath?). The real early Christians, the Greek Gnostics, lost and were killed as heretics.

The modern celebration of Christmas in America originates mostly from German immigrants in the 1800s (hence, gift-giving, decorated trees, nativities, etc.). The Puritans strongly disapproved of celebrating Christmas.

He knows when your are sleeping,
He knows when you're on the can,
He'll hunt you down and blast your ass from here to Pakistan.
You better not breathe, you better not move,
You're better off dead, I'm telling you, dude.
Santa Claus is gunning you down!

Um, given the history of the British empire you're rant seems, well, silly. After seven centuries of cramming british culture down other peoples' thoats it rings hollow.
