Christopher Reeve was just in Chicago last week, some kind of fundraiser I think, so it must have been a pretty sudden development or accident that brought about his death?

They said on the radio that he had battled several infections over the last year or so. He suffered from heart failure last week, on Friday I believe. Lapsed into a coma afterwards, then died.

Krypton's last son has fallen.

People in wheelchairs have a tendency to develop deep pressure sores from being on a chair or bed all the time.

These sores are like bruised pulpy hollowish flesh.

It can easily turn into infections or systemic infections like in Reeve's case.

Many handicapped unfortunately die from such pressure sore complications.

keep your opinions of a man outside of a condolence thread : This is more tasteless than the individuals posting crap in the iraq war KIA thread. If you have nothing positive to contribute, please don't contribute at all, GAH!

but moving on..
RIP Good sir, may you fly the skies for reals this time.

Not that what he tried to do was BAD mind you, but to garner so much praise for his "unselfish" deeds is ludicrous.

That is the dumbest hing I've ever heard. Do you seriously expect someone to take on every affliction out there as their main project whether they have or know someone who has it or not?

I could say you're an asshole for not doing something about xyz illness you've never thought about. You think that's fair?

It's perfectly natural for someone to start "giving a sh!t" after they're afflicted by it, rather than before.

Maddox is just an assclown and for you to take him seriously is so grossly ridiculous as to warrant it's own classification as an illness.

How about assclownitis?

Sorry Brutus, but in this case I have to agree.. That's just how life works. There are many, many... MANY things, some quite significant, that none of us pay any mind to unless it is shoved in our faces.

I'm going to have to agree with Maddox on this one. There are plenty of celebrities and wealthy people who donate and take active roles in research programs and charities and do not suffer or suffered from said condition. IIRC, there are plenty of female celebrities that support breast cancer research and haven't suffered from its wrath.
Sure, Reeves has put a lot into stem cell research, but why didn't he when he was still alive?

Give me a fsckn break. Same goes for Michael J. Fox. Posers.
