On the bright side, being disabled never stopped Stephen Hawking

Ah a stupid comment from someone who never sat in a wheelchair. And yes I am in a wheelchair.

Bitter are we?

Ehhh...dont think he meant any harm by that man.

Well I guess your right, I've just gotten tired of dumb comments some people make. like for an example one time I was getting out of my car sliding onto my wheelchair and some old man WALKING by said to me "Hey that looks like a nice chair I need to get one of those for me my knee hurts".
Or the time I was in line at the grocery store and the line was long and the lady in front of me looks at me and I said "long lines what can ya do?" and she said "Well atleast you get to sit down".

That's just 2 small examples that I've come across.

Those two comments would have pissed me off. Why don't they keep their stupid comments to themselves?

I'm sure that DWW meant no harm or disrespect in his post.

So vent at them, not at us for your condition.

Pulse, Thanks for starting this thread. Sorry you had to endure the backlash from the doubting posters.

Crab, You are a very courageous person.

Finally, I can remember the day of Christopher Reeve's accident. Actually, on the day he was killed, we were in the process of driving through the area where he suffered his injury on our way to Monticello. I guess I'll never forget that radio announcement at the time - seemed kind of eerie since we were so close to that area at the time.

R.I.P., Mr. Reeves

I mean no disrespect in saying this must be somwhat of a burden lifted from his wifes shoulders. Obviously she's devastated, but the burden she endured taken care of him on a daily basis must of been enormous.

A) You have no idea what you're talking about. 2) I wish I was home but unfortunately I am at work. C) I don't have class on Mondays but even if I did Columbus Day is tomorrow and classes are suspended. 4) You sound like you deserve to be in that chair.

Two weeks minimum.

Well Louis Lane loved him enough that it wasn't a burden

Bingo.

You can refer back to the reply I gave orakle22.
Atleast this man did something valuable in his life. You'll waste your 15 minutes of fame as the next Darwin Award winner.

You both are pieces of shit.

He's a jerk. All he had to do was answer my question in a respectable manner or just ignore it. Wheelchair or not a jerk is still a jerk.

There's a huge difference between what DWW said and being told "at least you get to sit down" in the supermarket. One is (maybe a little too much) sympathetic, the other is condescending.

Life dealt you a sh!tty hand, you got screwed, however you want to think of it, you're not going to get any argument here. Taking out your frustrations on someone who's never even met you before isn't very cool though.

Back on topic, I read this in one of the links that was provided
If your bladder or bowel are not the cause, check to see if:

* You have a pressure sore
* You have an ingrown toenail
* You have a fractured bone.

:Q I can't even imagine not being able to tell that I've got an ingrown toenail or fractured bone. You don't really notice it until you think about it, but our bodies provide us with so much information, I can't imagine life without it.

Your last comment "you sound like you deserve to be in that chair" is one of the meanest, most disgusting things someone can say. I agree, a jerk is still a jerk in or out of a chair. You qualify.
