Gang, this is making me crazy and almost got me fired. The auto-fill nonsense when searching or typing in a webpage (or Google on my phone) will not delete. Ever. I have tried for months and it is always there.

Today I nearly lost my job because my female boss used my phone to search google and a "bad" word came up.

I am at my whit's end on this. If you look at this article it goes through the steps, which do not work! Yes, I can follow the instructions. They are not hard. But they fail to do anything.

I really do not know what to do. This is becoming a serious problem. I am not computer illiterate so there is no reason why these steps should not work. But they don't.

This problem affects my iPhone and my PC.

You can go into the settings, and clear everything )from your recent history, all the way to all time. Just check all the boxes on what you want deleted.

Also, maybe search for "bad" stuff using incognito mode or another browser with better privacy options. Here is a shot of where to go to clear it in Chrome. It's similar to what you'll see in the mobile version. Another option would to be not to let others use your phone if you're concerned by what is on there.

My boss is an overly sensitive lunatic. EVERYTHING makes her upset. I was in a position where I had no choice but to let her search on Google with my phone. Denying her would just get me in trouble.

I have done all that you describe, again and again and again and yet those auto-fill terms keep coming up. I cannot understand WTH is going on. The auto-fills keep coming back.

It sounds like you need to go into your Google account and nuke everything (and change your settings to where nothing is remembered).

What job do you have where you have to let your boss go through your personal phone? I don't have anything on my phone that is "bad", but I would never let someone else force me to use my phone. Screw that!

Okay, this is interesting. That video shows a way to manually delete some stuff while actually typing and it is working. Of course, this means I need to do them one by one, but at least we are getting somewhere.

I assume there is some insane glitch with my Google account that is not allowing the normal means of deleting this stuff actually work.

As for my boss, it was not a normal thing for her to take my phone. She left hers in the car and needed to search for something and just took it out of my hand. I tolerate her because the job pays well and I am lucky to be working in this climate of insanity.

Either that, or the "bad" stuff was so bad it permanently burned the search into your Google account.

It sounds like you need to sign into your Google account from a computer, and go through the sections I showed in post #5. That can get rid of everything.

I have been logged in to my computer. I have been at this, on and off, for months. Things were at a point where I was ready to delete my Google account, re-install windows, wipe my phone and start over. Completely.

Thankfully I may not have to do that.

One thing you could try is switching to firefox. I am not sure I trust chrome anymore.
