Chrome is the best browser now

how can you say it's slow? you must have a slow computer or connection because I have 0 problems. Also my Firefox never crashes.

I dont have a slow computer (look at my sig)

my connection is a 30 mbps down / 3 mbps up

Ok, I admit I'm a "casual" user. Not a total idiot, but I don't use customizations in Firefox, I don't see why they would be needed except for coders.

Chrome is optimized so that JavaScript runs much faster, that's mainly the reason it beats Firefox. They are about equal in HTML5 performance.

Customization is not for coders,we all like to use browsers in our own way, for example I like my tabs at bottom so with Opera and Firefox I can do this ,but with Chrome I can't.

I switched from Firefox to Chrome a few years ago when Firefox development sort of stalled, but may give Firefox another try.

I'm really not all that afraid of tracking and I like that I can have all my chrome bookmarks, history, etc, for casual browsing on any OS/Computer almost instantly by signing in to the google.

Others have mentioned Chromium, which AFAIK is true FOSS and lacks the tracking and some google features. Another one, based on Chromium source is Commodo Dragon, which has some added security features.

I've been using exclusivly Firefox for years, but i have to admit Chrome is a very nice browser, Very fast and fluid.

This. On the desktop it felt weak compared to FF; had Chrome on my tablet for about 5 min. before I uninstalled it. Quick, but IMO, immature.

The problem with Chrome is there's only one way to use it. It's the Apple approach to computing. If you like their way, then you're golden. If not, you're screwed.

Due to my slower connection, speed is the #1 priority in a browser for me. Chrome with GPU acceleration enabled runs far faster than FF, even if Chrome is on a machine with less resources.

I have a good chunk of those enabled. Also I should point out that Chrome 27 (dev channel) is noticeably smoother than the current stable release (25).

In my old XP machine which I built in 2006 and which had no anti-virus software installed, I used Firefox exclusively. Never got a virus and never suffered a meaningful loss in performance. The security (with those add-ons) seems solid.

I ran into problems this year finally when I had WOW and FF open at the same time (running out of memory issues running the game).

Also as a web developer, I've had Chrome-using coworkers ask me for help about why their web page isn't working right. I ask if they've tried it in Firefox and IE, and when they try it in FF and IE, it works!

I use the x64 build of Firefox Nightly. It's 3 versions ahead of normal Firefox and is the only one of the 3 big browsers that's available in native 64-bit. I've never had a problem with it.

I have this problem far more with Chrome. I've never noticed any kind of functional oddities with Firefox or IE. For example, we had one instance where Chrome wasn't even posting the same data as Firefox or IE would in an HTTP POST.

Why is 64-bit a requirement for a good browser?

It's not, but 64-bit is nerdier and nerds like me like things nerdier!

I have experienced this as far as fonts go. Once of this reasons I don't care for it.

Firefox is pretty slow, it's still single threaded. I think their multi-threaded project has been canned for the most part.

Tracking is mainly done by the website and its scripts, not the actual browser, although browser can contribute to that too. Hence why you should have Adblock Plus, Ghostery, Facebook Disconnect, etc.

What keeps me with Chrome is the built-in flash player, I refuse to install Adobe Flash.

In a perfect world all that would be needed to run multiple tabs in a browser is a decent amount of memory.

Then flash came along and changed that. Flash won't even let you run it at low quality (read low CPU usage) unless you tell each instance to do so, or if you have an effective add-on.

I used both Chrome and Firefox, and from my experience Chrome crashed more often. However, I completely gave up Chrome once Firefox had the clever idea to only load the last tab that was active, not all the tabs that were open since last session.
