Story from USA Today, but not much real info.
CIA director Goss resigns

WASHINGTON (AP) ? CIA Director Porter Goss has resigned, President Bush said Friday.

Bush called Goss' tenure one of transition.

"He has led ably," said Bush, with Goss sitting next to him in the Oval Office. "He has a five-year plan to increase the analysts and operatives."

Bush said that Goss, a former member of Congress, has "helped make this country a safer place."

"We've got to win the war on terror," Bush said.

Said Goss: "I would like to report to you that the agency (CIA) is back on a very even keel and sailing well."

President Bush made the announcement from the Oval Office soon after 1:50 p.m. ET Friday.

He's rumored to be involved in the Cunningham scandal

Whats that about?

I just heard on MSNBC that goss may have been linked to the randy 'duke' cunningham prostitution scandal which is why he resigned without bush having a replacement ready for him.

Not a great month for Bush.

It looks as though Goss is the guy they were referring to in the article cited below.

Breaking: Hookers involved in Goss resignation?

So bush, being the hard core partisan "decider" that he is, will circle the wagons and act as if Goss had planned to resign today because Goss was an obedient and loyal lackey throughout his short and undeserved tenure as CIA director.

When reality finally gets to bush he's going to melt like the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz".

Another one leaving just under the radar. I really hope that ALL of the scandals associated with this administration are brought to light collectively. Between rove outing Plame and dumbya outing Plame, to jeff gannon, to planted stories in Iraqi newspapers, to the missing billions for Iraq to haliburton getting no bid contracts, to ALL of the lies told to push us into war with Iraq, to the election of '04 and the election of 00, this is a filthy, scummy group of politicians who deserve a cell in a deep hole. And I realize that I missed several scandals and illegal actions, wiretapping comes to mind, calling the constitution a gdamned piece of paper comes to mind as well, also dead-eye dickie, and dead-eye dickie dropping the f bomb.
What a pathetic, smarmy bunch of lowlife chickenhawks.

Goss is a tool.

Bush is a tool for nominating him.

The Senate is full of tools for approving of him.

He better take is political hack lackeys out the door with him. Granted, since much of the real expertise has already left the agency . . . there wouldn't be anybody left except the detainees in the basement.

Ah, the same Goss who was having breakfast with head of the Pakistani ISI on 9/11 ... who sent $100,000 to main 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta ?

You burn through lackies when you put too much trust in others. Bush manages using typical middle management apethetical delegation. His style cannot handle dynamic events unfolding because it lacks discipline. But in the end its one that works very well if the talent pool is equal to or exceeds the inherent level found within the boss.

That's a pretty big pool.

Like I said...

No argument here...hell, Goss is a 9/11 suspect. That is...he should be if there were to be a real 9/11 investigation.

Indeed. I think Jon Stewart really hit the nail on the head with that bit where Bush was giving a speech at the CIA and said that finding Osama was our top priority. God save me, Goss managed to look like he just crapped himself. It was truly a reassuring moment in national security.
