This seems like a good deal to me, please tell me if you think otherwise so I can return it. However, it seems pretty hot to me.

@ Buy.com

Cingular Nokia 3360 $90
-$90 instant rebate

Safechat handsfree kit $60
-$60 instant rebate

shipping ~$6

Basically, I got the phone and kit shipped to me for $6, PLUS there is an additional $50 mail in rebate. Minus the $37 activation fee, I still clear $13.

Now for the calling plan. I'm not a heavy user, but I do travel so I went with the 250 national plan. 250 anytime minutes, 1000 Nights and Weekends (9pm-7am). Plus free longdistance and no roaming? $30.

Perhaps someone who is more familiar with this plan can enlighten me:

Seems to me, wherever I can get a signal, regardless of who owns the tower, I'm in the free. So if I visit my parents in Iowa, where there is no cingular coverage, and I place a call, it doesn't cost me a dime?

If all this is true, seems damn hot to me. Your thoughts?

I don't know how the reception is in your area, but my circle of friends knows Cingular as SingleBar (as in a single bar of reception out of a possible 4). Outdoors it seems okay, but once you step inside any sort of edifice, it could be a tree house or lean-to, and your reception gets cut off. My dad got a 1-year service contract with them for himself, and within the first week he simply gave it to me so he could get an AT&T Wireless. Crappy phone for me, but at least I didn't have to pay for it.

Otherwise, the numbers don't lie. That's a pretty sweet deal.

heh, at school my reception is terrific. around my house it is so-so, but improving.

hmm, in my area cingular uses gsm chips, thus 3390 and 3395 models, and 3360's are exclusively at&t. looking at their site, cingular actually does use 3360's in some areas. make sure your area supports it, though.

On buy.com website, while choosing the phone, they ask for your zipcode. I am sure that they check the applicability of the phone for the zipcode.
