Signing up for a new contract always makes the store/client way more commission than upgrading one.

Would it not be possible to just get a new number and get all the good stuff. Why would people even bother to sign an extension, if they get like nothing.

Because some people, especially for their business, can't afford to lose their contact from their customers. Keeping the number is worth a lot more than a few hundred bucks to them.

Basically Cingular is giving money away to expand their customer base (mostly targeting the T-mobile launch customers). I am sure the "AUTHORIZED" direct store won't be doing anything like that with the Family Plan. Only the sub-dealers around here do the "empty line" deal.

Like someone mentioned, be very aware of the store you are getting the money from. A little booth in the supermarket can be gone within hours. And for those $1000, $1200, $83264918734 make sure you don't pay for the SIM or a 2-year contract and all that BS. There are just too many phone places doing all sorts of marketing BS around here.

OK, I never have a cell phone before but wanted to get a family pack of 4 cell phones. One for my daughter, one for my wife(I share with her), one for my parent and one for my wife's parent.
I live in San Diego. Is it good idea to go to LA to get and use it in San Diego?
What and where is the best deal for us? Bugget is $50/months. I like to have the smallest size of the phone as possible.

OK, I'm game for this deal. How do I locate a "mom and pop" Cingular reseller? I'm in Henderson NV and all I see is the company stores.

Thanks,

Sorry for dredging up this post again but I was just wondering if this deal was still on. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've only just skimmed the thread but I've read enough posts about bad experiences at Econowireless. I opened up a T-Mobile account with them 1.5 years ago before all this "$150 credit for opening another line" business and they were great. When the contract was over (couple months ago), I wanted to switch to Cingular and I looked at their prices...they're such a shady business now. I wanted the Samsung S307 just like everyone else and they couldn't offer me anything interesting. Instead, I went over to CCS over on Atlantic near Garvey in Monterey Park (not sure of the address) and their deal was incredible. I needed 3 lines (which are being used), 2 new phones (had an extra phone for the 3rd line)...ended up with the two Samsungs for -$20 after rebate (with 1 year contract). And the guy there was really really nice. I didn't feel like I was talking to a car salesperson trying to trick me into buying from them.

Whoops, it was on Garfield near Garvey rather than Atlantic. Here's their contact page from their website link.

Forgot the salesperson's name but all of them seemed really nice.
