So after all that I shop Sears and CC well before I go to a BB. But I mostly buy either at costco or online. Problem is most don;t buy online and the idiots at BB talk people into junk.

Its so funny how everyone has different experiences.

I would put BB as my number one electronics store. I never had a problem with them. I would put Microcenter as number two, unless CC has it cheaper or its for movie specials, I still consider CC number three, there service is bad and checkout is really slow. I would put Sears as last on my list and avoid them at all cost. Had several issues with them.

What is wrong with you guys? No competition? Please. Wal*Mart is the competition. Wal*Mart is the reason why Circuit City is going under, why CompUSA already collapsed, and why Tweeter/Sound Advice shut down numerous stores last year.

You cannot swing a stick around here (Los Angeles) without hitting a Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's or, before they went under, Good Guys and CompUSA. There is a corner near my old office that has(had) all of the above (We also use to have Silo and LATronics around here years ago).

In my experience, for those in the know about what they are planning on buying, I would rank them as follows: Fry's, Circuit City, Best Buy, CompUSA, Good Guys. That is just based on my personal experience at the stores here. If you do not know what you are looking for, you are screwed at pretty much all those places and should expect to get taken at every opportunity (like at the mechanics).

I think that more competition is always good, especially in electronics/computers. It is also nice to be able to go to a B&M to test drive things before buying them for >10% less online

They've actually been a bit better since they went through and redid/cleaned up a bunch of their stores. And now that they canned most of their previous staff, they just have young people their working to fill the hours so you don't have to worry about someone pestering you. And they are also much more easy going with price matching now because of that

But if it does go it's a bone job for the east coast as BB is about the only other thing in this state and many others.

All we have around here is BB, so it's not going to change much...I'd love to see Fry's come over here, though.

If CircuitCity goes away soon, Best Buy won't necessarily be the winner... but consumers will definitely be the losers.

CC has really stepped up their game recently and I think they're gonna make a comeback. Plus they just started price matching with costco. SWEET.

BB has the best cleareances, and something is always on clearance. Last year I saved probably $800 buying shit from BB over the cheapest price I could find online. When a $200 Keyboard, that isn't even old gets put on clearance @ BB for anywhere between $29-$79 bucks that's a fuckin deal. I catch deals like this at least once a month there. No other store has clearances that cut the price as much as BB. CC blows chunks, BB has in store rebates do you don't have to wait. And typically CC isn't cheaper. I can't see why people hate on BB so much. If you like 2-3 different MIR for a product, fine continue to go to CC, but I like to walk out of the store with the low price and not have to fucking hassle with MIR's. CC would do best to follow BB and do instant in store rebates.

And typically I can get sale items cheaper than even on Newegg, so all I do is check the weekly ad's for if I wait a few weeks I can always get what I want for cheaper at BB. Who cares the people who work there are idiots and douches? I'm not trying to build friendships, I don't have questions about products. I go in knowing what I want and end up walking out with a good ass deal every time.

How much is BB paying for your endorsement? Or are they paying you in rewards zone points?

Find some good hearted person that lives near a Fry's to act as a proxie for you.

Half the fun is going and picking out the item (and I would kill him with my "shipping and handling" fee, anyway).

they could give me some reward zone points, hell everything I buy is already cheaper than anywhere else. If they wanna give me points to where I can get shit without paying I'm all for it

They don't have to pay me, I spread the gospel for free. Things I've bought there

Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard = retail $200, still $150-200 most places, I got it for $59

Razer Trantuala keyboard = retail $99 I got it for $29, still $80-99 everywhere else.

500 GB external HD = $59 bucks, this was about a year ago, the cheapest I found online for the same drive was $99 *then*

Belkin Nostromo n52te = $35 bucks. $50 is the lowest online.

You can go into any BB any day and find something on clearance, some of it is the latest model they're just not going to carry it anymore. If you wait for deals you can always get shit cheaper at BB. It's by far my favorite store.

They were in the seattle area at least; closed down/bought out not too long after i moved there though so not sure how widespread they were.

Computer City?

Did anyone else have Silo?

Silo steamrolls into L.A. with 16 large-size units

They were all gone by 1995.

CC should change their strategy to $1.99 dvds ( $.99 for spanish dvds ) and $10 blu-rays.
THAT'S IT!
I'd be all over them.
And sell some sub$5 hdmi cables, for chrissakes!

Only other competitor (and I use that term veeery loosely) they have in the SE WI area is American TV. No Compusa, no Frys, no Microcenter, no anything.
