I doubt the Plantronic headset will work on the Panasonic FRS radios. It's just a guess, 'cause most radios uses a smaller jack for the microphone plugin.. I think... but don't quote me on that.

I got this Kensington webcam thru the BB freebie spree and right now there are serious driver issues. I give their tech support credit cause their very honest and pretty cool kids. the cam is supposed to do 30 fps, i'm lucky to get 8. so right now it's a dust collector. You'll be disappointed if u get this cam, less your willing to wait for the new drivers which supposedly will resolve this.

I too have the Kensington webcam. Very poor resolution and the images appear very dark. I was very disappointed and would not recommend it.

Regarding the rebates. I have never had a problem with CC, but I/O sucks big time. Two rebates sent in 0 rebates received. On the other hand, I did have a warranty problem (a vid card that went bad) and I/O replaced the card with new. However, I did physically deliver the card to them as they are local. In short, don't count on the I/O rebate without hassling them (I didn't).

I won't quote you on that, but I think you're right. I looked at Panasonic's own headsets and its 2-jack connector shows one jack narrower than the other. A trip to Radio Shack may be in order for an adapter/alternative.

Go to IOMagic.com, fill out the rebate request online, as long as they have the info, the will send you the rebate right away. I got 4 of my rebates recently, after a 6 months wait.

I received two Iomagic rebates, but I had to call them. I waited until the alloted time was past and I called. Both times I had the check in a week. The Iomagic drives used to be good, but I think they are now mfg. by BTC which makes the same generic drives that Fry's sells for 28-30. They are OK but the 52X drives perform DAE at only 8X which is just fast enough for disc to disk with my 8X Plextor. For 5.00 final price and the fact that you will have to call Iomega, it's probably worth it. The 40x drive might only perform DAE at 4X, believe it or not. I had a Digital Reasearch 40X (they're out of business, lost my 20.00 rebate) with was also mfg by BTC, and it could only keep up with the Plextor at 4X burns. So, remember 40X and 52X doesn't mean fast. My Plextor 8x/4x/32x performs DAE at 10X+ and it's only a 32X read, go figure. Remember you get what you pay for, usually. Hope this helps.

I haven't had any problems with CC rebates but watch out for I/O Magic. Everytime I buy something with a rebate from I/O I always have problems. You have to follow up and bug them to get your rebate - everytime. It's magic if you get your rebate. I avoid buying I/O products.

I think I/O took over Digital Research and more recently, Hi-Val. I bought a Hi-Val CD drive recently at CompUSA and when I looked at the rebate and the documentation inside the box it had references to I/O all over the place. The model number DRCD40 on the I/O CD drive on sale indicates that it is Digital Research and I heard they use drives made by Top-G (Top Glory). The Hi-Val drive I bought recently is Top-G also. It looks pretty cheap. Hi-Val used to provide name brand equipment that they got OEM them resold them.

Ditto for the I/O Magic Rebates. They usually say you either didn't send enough stuffs for the rebate (UPC, reciept, etc) or they just don't contact you all. So watch out. But if you call them or write them back, they will just send you a check w/o any questions. I guess it's their strategy for not giving you the rebate.

But lucky for me. I/O Magic's headquarter is about 2 blocks from my house, so I just pay them a special visit when ever they're playing tricks.

It took me 6 months to get my I/O Magic rebate for the exact same 40x CD-ROM. I thought I would never get it but surprisingly it came. But 6 months is ridiculous! They better send it to me on time this time or I'll call to bug them.

By the way, does anyone know if the Circuit City CDs are any good?

hmm...the I/O Magic CD-ROM I just got from CC is actually 45X instead of 40X that it was supposed to be. It says 45x right on the CD tray. This particular unit does look different from the one I got 6 months ago too. Maybe we do get a bonus of 5x faster.

Anyone get the same thing??

Just to give a head up !!!!

There is another thread going around about the Kensington Webcam.....
From the ad it goes for 39.99 dollars (before rebate)
there should be a 30 Manufacture rebate and a 5 dollars Circuit City rebate.
Which brings the total to 4.99 + tax

HOWEVER........

OfficeMax has the webcam for only 19.99 dollars =)

So go to your customer service and ask for a price match....

I got 2 today, one for me and one for my sis.

So total came up to be 19.99 - 30(MIR) - 5(CCIR) = - 15.00 dollars (after all the rebates)

Word of caution !!! I couldn't find the 30 dollars MIR in the circuit City website. They only have the 20 dollars rebate. So a little help.....

I got it for $149.00 and got the $30.00 Manufacturer rebate but was not given any $10.00 ccmir nor any $10.00 instant rebate.

Oh yea, it's monaural, but good for speech recognition etc.

Went there Sunday AM and noticed it said $ 19.99 - 20.00 CC MIR - 5.00 CC MIR = $ 5.01 (+/- sales tax)...

And that's exactly what I was charged...

So their paying me ~ $ 5.00 to take it...

My local CC was sold out of the free & $4.99 goods (webcam, headset, & cd-rom)... but the website said that the items were still in stock. So I bought them online to be picked up at the store. Then I went back to CC, had the manager refund me the web purchase, then repurchase the same items to be picked up when they get more stock on Tuesday.
