Circuit City "Restructure" - Round 2

From what I hear there is supposed to be some more huge news for Circuit City employees this week. This is pure speculation of course. A friend tells me that it will be on the management side this time instead of hourly associates. I'm not too excited about it. I work there, but I'm not a manager. In general, morale in the store has been low since the first round of layoffs. If more are to come I don't know how all the employees in the store will take to it. Who knows. Again, this is speculation and does not a have a solid answer as of yet. Later this week I might be able to provide an update.


Update: I was one of the seniors that was laid off today due to company restructure. Hooray. *&%#

As much as I want to laugh I cant. I am a senior salesman. Say for instance part of the change would be to get rid of my title to make a supervisor position, I would be back to a regular associate and above the pay cap, then get fired.

I am sorry that your job might be in question but that is the risk you take when you work for a place that sucks. I hate Circuit City. Every time I go in there I alway ask myself why? I now only go there for super sales in the ads and that is not very often anymore. It is no surprise to me that CC is in trouble which they obviously ares since you don't make these kinds of changes when you are a healthy company.

Well luckily I am in college and I work there for extra money. I have loans/fin. aid to pay for school. So finding a new job isn't really a big deal. Its just crappy ya know. I understand how a lot of you feel about buying at stores like CCity and Best Buy...shoot..I don't even buy stuff there with my discounts. Half the time I can find it cheaper online still. Like I said, as of now its a really good paying college kids job.

Sorry to hear about your job situation. Hopefully it works out. On a side note I prefer Circuit City to Best Buy, at least in my area. The atmosphere at Circuit City is a lot more relaxed.

I've had MUCH better experiences with Circuit City than with Best Buy. Plus, it seems like Best Buy gave up trying to have the best prices on DVDs, so I've almost stopped going to Best Buy completely.

Yeah, I work there too. It seems that 3 managers are going to be removed today at my store.. possibly replaced by 'supervisors'...?

All I've seen CC do since I started was screw over its employees man. I'm allready probably the most disgruntled one there. If they get all the sales associates angered enough to leave, then they will be left with hiring a bunch of newbies.. It all seems like a bad idea to me.

Yeah there is a meeting for all management tonight(Wednesday), a meeting for Seniors, leads and MITs on Thursday morning, then an all store meeting on Sunday. Now they are also supposed to roll out the "product flow team". That means no more sales associates putting out displays or doing tags. Sales associates will strictly deal with customers only. The PFT will do tags and all the busy work that sales associates used to do. I just hope I still have a job when its all over haha.

While its only speculation, the instore firedog lead at my store is conspicuously off the tech manager's team on mycircuitcityhr while everyone else is still on - so he might be getting the axe. Same with CSA leads. The rumors I hear are that the Roadshop managers are getting fired and there will be only one sales manager instead of a tech and entertainment manager. We'll have to see. We might know more after 8pm tonight.

As for the product flow team....well, I've seen the results of that at the store next to the district office and its not good. Everyone at that store hates it and it always seems to result in an 80lbs short girl helping me load a 61" tv into my delivery truck (Since anyone in the PFT should be able to work warehouse it leads to some interesting scheduling)

People forget that has a long history of letting associates go. Commission days anyone? What was that, like a 50% firing rate among the sales associates?

I had not heard the CSA Lead rumor yet. Either way this whole thing smells like poo. Circuit City CEOs go to the bank laughing as the little guys at the bottom get fired and they get paid more. Yay corporations.

Ok. So I just heard some horrible news. Managers are being fired. Managers at my store and another in my city were let go just about 20 minutes ago...pretty terrible. I don't know the reasons yet. I will post some more updates soon.

THis is everywhere. I got laid off as well as my boss also 2 weeks ago.
