That's why the smart AT'r prints out everything immediately, 2 copies. Last year someone did the same thing with a Maxtor 40GB, brought prices down to $10+tx, and there was an Epson Scanner with double rebates for free+tx. I think both pulled the second rebate shortly after someone woke up. All required original UPC's. I got all rebates, still haven't installed the HD. Getting to small to bother with.
If you are going to try for 2 rebates or more be sure to print it as soon as you order it.

I was smart enough to print out the rebate form immediately but they will not be accepting this $60 one via mail... I guarranty it. I just had a lady tell me it will not be fullfilled no matter what.

Take that how you will but she worked at the rebate place and said they were giving out false information this morning. Tough luck even if you got the name of the person who you talked to, she didn't care.

Doesn't have to. If they don't honor it it still would be fraudulent advertising. Inadvertent but fraudulent. Or should I say inadvertently fraudulent. Certainly unscrupulous if inadvertent or inadvertently unscrupulous fraud...if they don't honor it in which case it would also be dishonorable inadvertently unscrupulously fraudulent activity.

Yeap... it is their good right to change the rebate. However... at the point of sale all rebates where vaild. Thus I will claim and fight for my 20$ drive. No if's and but's. I have printouts of everything, right after the sale. As well as a confirmation e-mail that has all 3 rebates with valid dates. And no... the UPC is not an issue... never was an issue before on multiple rebates.

If I have some time I hook up the scanner and post a scan of the original rebates tonight or tomorrow on PCPC.NET

Just got back from CC in Binghamton NY and told them about the "mistake" and they credited me $64.80... only had to pay tax on 99.99... 107.99 - 80 - 10 = 17.99... got a 8 meg too... kinda funny that i showed up same time as another kid from anandtech and we went at them together... go and complain

I doubt they did, it explicitly says on the $60 rebate that you had to buy the drive by 4/23/03 to qualify.

well, they modified the rebate after a lot of people placed order. The original rebate form quote a different expiration date.

It does say that now, but when I purchased it said 4/30/03 and I've got the printout that shows it.

I went with all my printouts and the store manager called corporate and then credited me 64.80... i dunno about u guys but id rather have 64.80 upfront then deal with a rebate... goto the store

Boy, I go away from this board for a few hours and look what I miss out on!

Just a heads-up here - Circuit City has done this before, changed the rebate dates,amounts, etc. Anyone else remember when they did it with a 100pk CD-Rs last year? A lot of folks got denied the rebates, or got the lower amount. I took all the documentation for the original amounts to my store and they gave me back the amount that would have been a problem just like they did for Sup in his post a little earlier. Try that first and you might not have to worry about the $60 rebate.

Ok so I called the CC store I went to too see if I could get a credit and he refused and refered me to the CC rebate center. So I called the CC rebate center (888-213-9761) and it appears they are looking into the issue and nobody seams to have an answer, but they are looking into it and they took my info and will call me back.

Did you show them your email conformation? The conformation lists 3 rebates... only two print at the register.. so they need to credit 60$

Are refering to the store I called? Because I said I called them, so I couldn't really show him anything but I did tell him I did have various pages printed out. The way he explained to me is that the rebate was offered through the website and he has no control over that, and he was not at fault which I agree with. So thats fine I'll see what the rebate center says. I'll call back tomorrow if they don't call me back.
