UPDATED POST:
Sitting Pretty with my NEW 120 GB WD, for only $16.58. I paid exactly $106.58 in Circuit City. I have the rebates; they are the $80 WD rebate and $10 rebate from Circuit City. Circuit City paid the $60 "bogus rebate" (because they messed up!)
However this is not without some problems, let me be frank, and explain! (grinning)
1st trip to local Circuit City with the proper paperwork in hand. I asked a sales person about the drive and there was only one left on the shelf! I then showed him the paperwork and it was all up-hill for me from then on. I talked to an assistant manager girl and I then blew through her, and spoke to the Sales Manager. The Sales manager was also not nice! He would not budge an inch, even though I was in the RIGHT! So I requested his manager to speak with. His manager (the store manager) was in a meeting and I had to come back at 4:00pm to speak with him.
I left the store mad, but somewhat calm mannered. I went home called another local 2nd Circuit City and spoke with the Store Manager there, he was really cool and understood my situation. I told him what was the situation at the other store, he understood. He gave me Corporate Headquarters information and other manager's names as well.
I then called the Western Digital rebate line 1-800-292-0667, and they basically told me that Circuit City messed up on their website. Only one rebate is good at a time. Circuit City will have to somehow cover the damage or the $60, or the $80 rebate (either one!)
3rd store: I called and talked to the manager and he said he would cover the price of the $60 rebate, on the spot! I went to the store and they did just that. The manager covered the bogus price on their website and I paid there: $ 106.58.
But the clincher is this: I held the hard drive at the 1st store and at the 3rd store (where I paid $106.58) they printed me out a ticket and I had to pick up the hard drive from the 1st store. I went to the 1st store with my receipt and requested the original Sales Manager and handed him the receipt (grinning). I said:"I would like to pick up my Hard Drive".
TIPS
1. Have paperwork, "rebates, website image" ready when you are in the store.
2. Talk to the Store Manager, or the District Manager! The regular employees will not be of help!
3. The local manager will have to eat the extra $$ in my case the $60. The manager merely swiped his corporate card and deducted the price from the sale. I paid $106.58 total.
4. Circuit Cities are networked in areas. If you go into a store, that does not have the Hard-drive, another store may have it, and you can pay there, and go to the other store and pick it up. (like I did)
5. If Circuit City does not have the Hard-Drive in stock, they will order you one. You will Pre-Pay for the Hard-Drive. They will print you a receipt and the rebates, and you can pick up the Drive later.
6. Western Digital rebate center is helpful, and they know the situation, just call and ask about it.
7. Remain calm, and collected, and be prepared. Some of the managers will not budge, they think they are right!
8. As of this posting, the deal should be valid! Even tomorrow!
9. Talk to the District Manager if needed! I did this and I also gave positive feedback towards some of the employees, NOT ALL!
10. And when you hear the words "Sir, this is not worth loosing a sale!" You know you have WON!
(I?m grinning now)
