After picking up the drive on the 24th, I returned the next day to try and get the $60.00 IR. Was a no go with this CSR; he said the $60.00 rebate would be honored but if it got kicked back for any reason, the store would then credit me. He entered this info into their computer system and printed out a new receipt with said info. The outside of the box said the drive had a 2MB cache, opened it up, 8 MB cache, woot!!

after investigating my drive is a 2MB cache... I don't really care. $23 for a 5400 RPM 40gig would have been a good price yet I got a 7200 RPM 120gig ^_^ I'm happy.

OK I think we established all the things that are being repeated ad nauseum about 2MB & 8 MB versions and about some people getting instant credit some not. You don't have to tell us about that again and again any more.

The only thing that is relevant now is the news that CC will honor the $60 rebate but we have to wait till Monday morning for people to post what they were told about specifics.

On Monday, April 28th, you will need to call Customer Support at (800) 251-2665 for specific instructions on how to receive the $60 rebate.

Ordered mine online, site said warehouse was out of stock but was available at a local store which just got it in this morning.(Sat.) Called Customer Service about the $60.00 rebate and they said they couldn't find it, said I had a copy of the web page showing it good until 4/30 then was told they would honor it and to talk to a supervisor on Monday about the credit. Gave me a reference so I didn't go through the whole deal again.

Super deal

Thanks

I am not SUGGESTING anything, but simply curious... for those that got the manager's to simply credit the cards for $60, what is to prevent them from still submitting the $60 MIR now that CC says they will honor it?

Got another call from the rebate center. Apparently CC made a deal with Western Digital and you can submit the $60 rebate as is, with all the same info. She did mention that it had to have been purchased the 24th, and photocopies of UPCs etc will be accepted.

Exactly... so if your CC manager gave you a credit on your card already... whats to stop you from submitting your rebate?

good point... but I'm sure they have ways of tracking that.

I agree. I think that is really risking fraud charges. Considering I got $63.60 back on mine, I'll be satisfied with that. $16.72 after rebates and including postage is smokin'.

Let me put it another way:

All of us who got the $60 credit without having to send in the rebate form should be satisfied. Any who try to milk it for the $60 rebate also deserves to be caught and prosecuted.

Getting the drive for under $20 is a steal. Trying to get the extra $60 is just plain stealing, as in theft!

Agree, there is a limit for greed, and people with that much greed are surely going to get into major trouble at some point - just my opinion.

Mark my words there will be some jerkoff who sends in the 60$ rebate and gets it after getting a 60$ credit at the store level, then will post to brag about it. The problem with this is that eventually no manager in their right mind will take care of you on the spot like many of you have been. In fact you will be lucky to get taken care of at all.

Not sure how you feel it's a 'RIPOFF' since this offer was for the 2mb version. Others are just lucky to have gotten the 8mb version.

Me, I got the 2mb version and got my $60 instant credit and am hoping to get another $60 MIR along with the $10 and $80.

Just be happy that CC has finally honored the $60 rebate (mistake) for those who purchased the drive by 4/24. I've seen other companies cancel legit orders and not honor rebates for other reasons.

Personnally I think you guys should edit that out of your posts. Companies such as CC have people that read the forums. Saying thing as above would only screw thing up regarding the honoring process

If you didn't see that he winked at the end of that post... kinda touge in cheek.

Also, I would never dream of sending in the 60 MIR after I got the IR... I agree... that is just plain dishonest.

For anyone that is toying with the idea of submitting the $60 rebate after receiving his discount from the store. The receipt has a transaction number which can be brought up if the rebate center wanted to check to see if a credit had been applied to the original sale. Besides being morally wrong, what is being risked is worth more than $60. (actually, any amount of money)

Circuit City must die!

Sal
I honestly think that CC did the best they could, they could have just screwed us all over and said it was a web error and I see this as the best possible solution. And to all of you who are complaining about getting a 2mb drive so what?! It's still a sub-$20 (including tax/postage) 120GB hard drive?!

I have liked CC for a while now and I think now I will make a conscious effort to shop there more. This has only reinforced my beleif that CC cares more about their customers than BB/Frys/OM/OD! (FYI Staples is up there too).

If I were to manage to find the drive today and buy it, is there a chance I would get a $60 IR?

I have printouts of the rebate forms. I couldn't buy it on 4/24 because all of Northern California was sold out within 3 hours of this deal being posted.

(Was it sold out or CC directed store managers to pull the drives from the shelves?)

Well they out right refused to give me 60 dollar credit. They even went online to tell me its not there anymore. Even though I just told them its not on the website anymore. Its that kind of stupidity that I hate. I for one am not returning to that particular circuit city for any sales, period. I'm willing to drive extra 10 minutes to get someone who's isn't gonna state the obvious.

Personally Costco for me rates the best in customer service. Rebates aren't a hassle (they pay you the rebate amount and deal with the company themselves), returns are easy. Because they check the receipt on exit then even told me one time I was double charged. I didn't notice, way too much stuff. But just shows you they care. that or the employee that day cared to tell me.

Alot of times I see them just mark it and don't really bother looking.

No chance. $60 MIR rebate was supposed to end 4/24. $80 & $10 MIR ends today.

I'm opting for the OMax sale tomorrow. Missed this deal because I was at work. :frown:
