Circuitry on ATI 9800 Pro

I was looking through PacFu's Pictures of his Melted 9800 and I was wondering if anyone knew or had an idea what the circuitry is for that is mounted on the fan itself? The only thing I can think of is that is has something to do with fan speed. It seems like they would only need a set of sensors, however this configuration has a couple large transistors, and several ICs, suggesting something more complicated. Speed control maybe.


Any ideas?

I'm not sure. My only real guess is that it is more complicated that one might imagine because it is related to the GPU's temperature, so some communication would be going on between the two.

It is most likely the rpm sensor, thermistor, and speed control logic circuitry.
