Citi Forward Visa Signature Card

So I just got a letter in the mail today saying my Citi Forward card has been upgraded to a Signature Card. Letter says I can get discounts on certain merchants and tickets for movies, hotels, resorts and cruise lines. I guess the biggest change is that I no longer have a cap on my thank you points. Before it was limited to 750,000 ($750). I don't like fancy pants cruises or hotels but I will be going to Brazil for vacation this year. I have not bought a plane ticket yet. Does any of you with signature cards know if there are airline discounts?

I have two Visa Signature cards (from Chase and BoA - yes, I know, two largest evil CC companies..heehehe). I don't think the card can give you discount on ticket price.

Chase Ultimate Rewards is better regarded for travel rewards. They may have some discounts, but in general I have found thank you points are best just for amazon gift cards.

Depends on what airline you want to fly and where you will be flying out of. Some notable omissions of the UR program include AA and DL (Although you could go BA -> AA). Amex MR can also be very valuable often offering 30-50% bonuses for DL or BA point transfers.

OP - how many points do you have with Citi? A quick search of Citi's flight booking shows your point redemptions for a round trip flight shows AA as the cheapest at 80k from Miami with UA and DL in the 120k+ range for a random date this year

You can do a points + cash with them as well. However, if you dont have or dont want to use a lot of points you will often find cheaper flights elsewhere as they don't really ever offer sales or promotions when booking through their site.

You might have some great hotel options. It can be hit and miss though. For example I am staying at a 5 star hotel in Belfast for 8,000 Thank You points this July but the redemption options in Glasgow were not even close to reasonable. I would definitely check out your hotel options

DO NOT enter your SSN unless you're comfortable doing so (I wasn't). I was qualified for 4 exclusive offers, all were better than the credit cards web sites offers. Even without entering my SSN it found a total of 19 credit card offers with 4 being exclusive.

Yes I know there is a Preferred card with 6% but with $75 annual fee, I don't charge enough to break even.
