Citi makes me laugh

I just got a statement in the mail that said that they were going to raise my APR to 20.99%. WTF.

I pay my card off every month, so it won't affect me at all. However, this is the worst "thanks for being a loyal customer" letter I've ever seen!

My Sears Gold Mastercard is from Citi. One of those deals where I applied for a Sears Card and they gave me what they wanted not what I wanted. I never use it because of this, and the second they start charging me an annual fee it will get closed. Sears was already a pain to deal with, adding Citi to the mix only made it worse.

$50 - 100 a year, depending on the card. I've never kept a balance and the CC co's hate me.

This. I have a credit score average of 820 from all three major credit bureaus, too.

Don't take it personally. It's not just you, and it's not just Citi. Pretty much every bank is doing this to pretty much every customer. Just look at it as encouragement to never carry a balance.

Discover upped mine. Which gives me even more incentive to get it paid off soon.

I just got the same letter in the mail except they raised mine from 13.24% to 17.99%. They gave me the option of going to 9.99% but I would have had to transfer $3,000 to the card. I don't carry a balance on this card and all of my debt is low interest (mortgage, student loan, and the like) so I didn't really want to do that. I've rarely carried a balance, but I like the option if I have an emergency. I called and griped about it and they dropped my rate to 15.99% for the next 6 months. It's still not great but at least its better and I have the option of trying for a lower rate again in 6 months.

Those are always nice letters. I got one from TimeWarnerCable recently. They're raising rates yet again, but the letter's worded to make it sound good, kind of like, "Because the service we offer is so great that it induces spontaneous orgasms in at least 30% of our subscribers, we think you won't mind this pricing change."

In a way, I'd prefer, "Prices are going up soon. You know, because we can. What're you gonna do about it, huh? Pay up."

Well if it comes to that then I'd definitely have to change my game plan. Especially since the rewards don't add up to be much more than that per year.

fvck them all. cost of business if anything is going down since they all laid off whole bunch of people and rest works harder.

there are lot of people not paying their CC at all so you the good customer get to pay for them via higher rates.

Same here, up from 15.x%. No annual fee. Rarely use the card now and don't carry a balance so it's no big deal.
