i think OP has some of the info incorrect.

it seems there are 3 ways to satisfy the requirement for no monthly maintenance fee:

I got the EZ-Checking promo last year that had a $200 bonus. I'll see if I can add the e-Savings acct to it and still get the 4.5% rate.

with those requirements you might as well do Presidential checking -- 4.37% on checking (up to $25K) with a minimal monthly direct deposit
