Citibank Introduces The New Shell MasterCard® From Citiâ Cards
Featuring Rebates on Shell Gasoline and Other Retail Purchases

Citibank, the No. 1 credit card issuer in the world, and Shell Oil Products US, the number one gasoline seller in the U.S., today launched the new Shell MasterCard® from Citiâ Cards that offers an outstanding rebate program.

Citi Cards is doubling the card?s regular 5 percent rebate on Shell gasoline purchases as part of an introductory program for those that apply for the new Shell MasterCard by March 31, 2003. New cardholders will receive a 10 percent rebate on each Shell gasoline purchase made within the first 60 days of the card?s activation. After the 60-day period, the rebate reverts back to the industry-leading 5 percent on Shell gasoline purchases and 1 percent on all other retail purchases wherever the card is used. All rebates are applied as credits toward future Shell gasoline purchases.

Those of you who hold the Shell MasterCard from Chase need to reapply to take advantage of the introductory offer and continue to receive this industry-leading gasoline rebate.

The Shell MasterCard from Citi Cards has no annual fee for the first year. After the first year, the annual fee will be waived when nine Shell gasoline purchases are made each year. Other benefits include:

5 percent rebate on Shell gasoline
1 percent rebate on all other purchases
Exceptional customer service - 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including online account management
ATM cash access
Worldwide MasterCard acceptance
Lost Wallet® Service - if a card is lost or stolen, a new card will be rushed to the customer - with an emergency cash advance if needed to help the customer until the replacement card arrives.

Chase Telephone #: 800-432-3117
Chase Freedom Telephone* #: 866-800-3736

*Didn't check the freedom number. I applied two nights ago and used the first number, then the rep transfered me, but also gave me the later # as the direct number.

Kick ass card. Cheap gas rocks. I don't need to pay more for a name brand when everything here comes out of the same pipeline. My local independent $1.46. My local Exxon, $1.56.

$1.46 - 3% rebate = $1.41

I also have that on the bottom of my card. When I called them, they told me this is limited to a small group of members with good standing history with Chase. It features 6% rebate from any gas station and 1% on other purchases for a limited time. Then, the rebate goes down to 5% from any gas station. When I asked how one could apply for a card like this, they told me it is not available for new applicants and is only a one time deal for a limited group of members. So, I am glad to have received this card as I am still getting the same 5% rebate but I am not limited to just Shell gas any more. And there is no annual fee. To think I almost cancelled this Chase card to go with CitiBank, good thing I waited a few extra days!!! Of course, YMMV.

Here where I live Shell usually overcharge around 5% more than other station. I like the freedom that it gets 5% from every station including those independent one for real good price. Here in North Cal everyone buy gas from everyone else. I saw a Beneto Truck goes into Chevron, then a Chevron truck into Costco, and Beneto truck into shell, and etc.

Since I spend at least $120 on gas every month I figure by the time I need an engine rebuilt the $ I save will be more than adequent to cover that.

If 7 years, $15K credit line, and no missed payments isn't "good standing history" with Chase, you guys must have some really awesome track records.

Well, the best credit records have 20+ years...

I know someone who's only been with Chase for 4-5 years and has the 5%. He thinks it has more to do with whether you carry a balance (i.e. whether chase is making money off of you). Of course, if someone comes along who has been with chase for 4+ years, always pays in full, and also got the 5%, then forgot that theory.

I wish CitiBank or Chase would team up with Chevron (I prefer their gas), oh well.

Guess I'll stick with my CitiBank Dividend Platinum Select Card for now.

I wish Costco still took other credit cards. Costco is always $.05 - $.10 less than the competitors in my area. I do have the Costco 2% Amex. The ONLY difference in gasolines is the additives.

There seems to be a lot of positive feedback on the Chase Freedom card, what about this CitiBank/Shell gas card?

Folks,

Don't forget the AAA card too (from MNBA bank). 5% back on all gas purchases regardless of brand name, so long as purchase is made at the pump (you must swipe the card thru at the pump to get the 5% back).

Great deal if you spend lots of $$$ in fuel.... even if you don't

Hmmn also MBNA offers one time use cc's as well, right?

Is there any % on regular non-gas purchases?

Not sure. I've got my citibank dividend for that.. 1% back on everything, 1 time use #'s with
adjustable expiration date and dollar amount.

I've got no experience with mbna as far as credit cards go. I have 5 cards (6 with the gas card), which is more than plenty for my needs.

On a different note, I get weekly mailers from chase about preapproved this or that. I can't seem to get off their list(s).

0% back on non gas purchases with the AAA card--- has a 0% balance xfer apr deal til 1/2004.

If you're a AAA member, the primary account should have received some advertisement in the mail in the past week, which
has a referral # they ask for when you call. I do suppose if you call and ask, they may offer the card to you as well, just to get
your business..........
