You can just disable mods in game temporary. Not sure why you don't want to play for a few hours without them.

I did. It didn't help. I ended up forcing DirectX 9 mode and I haven't had a crash. I looked in the error log and it was a Direct X error, which led me to switch modes. Hopefully its stable from now on.

When you build industry over resources, they create natural resources for your other industry. You can use districts to set the type of industry to take advantage of the resources. If they can't get the resources from your town they ship them in from outside. If the traffic is bad that the resources can't get to your industry in time, then you get the issue.

A cargo train line to the outside is a good way to get your goods in and out without clogging your roads.

Improved traffic flow towards the industrial zones.

Setting up specific resource zones is imperative too.
If your land has oil/ore/forestry, you need to take advantage of it.
Granted the Cims will complain out the mining, but like good constituents, they are never going to be happy anyways...

Yah putting in a specialized zone increases truck traffic INSANE levels. After i put farm place next to city..all of a sudden tons of trucks start backing up roads going to in through the main city. Had to plow down area for highway to go straight to it.

That's true. Traffic goes through the roof. But so does the moola.

So, has anyone come up with a Top XX set of rules to follow for maximum success? I would presume any listings would have been tested more than once to validate said success.

Glad I picked this one up after reading this thread. This is most likely the best city building sim I've played since Sim City 3/4.

Man i just don't get the abandoned buildings issues.

I have enough workers. Is it just a matter for getting people TO the work areas that is causing it? I noticed some subway places don't get used as much as others.

Could be workers getting to it, could be goods getting to it. Either way, it usually boils down to traffic issues.

You need to have a good bus system to support the metro. I do metros in central areas of zones and then radiate the bus stops out from the metro stops. I'm currently working on a ~30k pop city and have 2500 using metro, 2200 using bus and the only traffic issues I have are with heavy trucks.

When you say "metro" do you mean trains? Or subways?

The game considers metros to be subways I believe.

Anybody else having an issue (bug?) with medical clinics?

I have a community where people are getting sick and dying. I've placed 3 clinics there, and even maxed my healthcare budget, and ambulances aren't leaving the facilities. If I click on them, they always say 0 in use and either 0 or 1 patient and "Operating Normally."

I have a hospital located on another island, and the only way these people get served is if ambulances from that facility drive for miles to get there.

I've tried everything I can think of. I destroyed the clinics and rebuilt in other locations....even plopped down a hospital. None of them are working...it's really frustrating because I basically can't go forward. I've invested a lot of time and resources into this community, so I would hate to have to go back to previous saves.

I've heard polluted water supply can do this. Check to make sure you're not pumping up sewage anywhere.
