Civ 5/BE - more or faster cores to speed up turns?

Civ5 and CivBE are painfully slow between turns... it makes each turn a painful experience. :'(

I'm running an i5 3470 and R9-270 video card.

So... what's going to speed up the time between turns? Is it a multi-core game that'll benefit from 8-12 threaded processors? Or is it only using 1-2 cores and most benefits from sheer speed? Somehow I doubt video cards will benefit, though they should have programmed it to use CUDA, etc, to speed up processing times!

I like the game but get darned near sleepy with the slowness of it... I'll stick to Civ4's snappy performance until I can figure out how to improve turn speeds!

Lower the amount of City States.

Hardware wise, I'm not aware of something that will prevent you from having to wait between turns. I'm running a 3770k and R9-290 personally.

I've played the game on a 5 year old laptop as well on a decent new rig, there's hardly any differance in performance between them. ie in both cases the game takes horribly long between turns once I hit turn 200 or so.

Indeed less number of city states has the highest effect on reducing wait time, as mentioned above.

city states should just be nuked. in C5 there is no advantage to have either those, or any city conquered from the enemy. raze and rebuild.

What does it do?

It turns on quick movement/quick combat for the AI players (and city states), while leaving movement and combat for yourself switched off.
In Civ5, the mod guesses which AIs to do this for, so if you're at war with someone, the quick movement/combat for that AI gets turned off, while remaining on for all the others. It works quite well, but sometimes gets confused and leaves quick movement/combat on for you as well, but will generally fix itself after a turn.
In CivBE, you get checkboxes in the diplomacy window for each AI and the aliens. Check the box and that AI will have quick combat/movement.

It speeds the game up a lot. So much so for Civ5 that I can't bring myself to play it without the mod turned on.

Can't use it in multiplayer though, which is quite annoying.
