I want to like this. I really, really do. But my anus still twitches when I think about Civilization 5.

Because of the non-linear choices (in technology) you and your competitors will make based on your needs and overall strategy, and the intentional lack of technology trading, no faction will be able to unlock all the technologies in a single playthrough, and by the end of a game each faction should look and function very differently.

The DLC really fixed Civ 5. I got it for a song on Steam and have put 150+ hours into it. Great game
I think it will be awesome. I enjoyed Civ 5, especially after the Brave New World expansion.
the tourism mechanic looks nice but otherwise much of the game looks like a mass produced money maker title
You are welcome to your opinion. I would suggest playing it though rather than just saying what it "looks like". Anyway, Civ 5, whatever. Not interested in debating that again. As far as this new game goes (the one that the thread is about), here's a PC Gamer interview. http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/04/12/ci...logy-and-more/

Civ 5 with add-ons still isn't as good as Civ4BTS...we shall see.
Well, reminds of how Colonization was redone.
Colonization was a bit limited in scope, which made replayability not so great.
That shouldn't be the issue with this.
If the mechanics are strong, it can be a good game, regardless of the engine. I hope they had a proper sit down though, and that this game will work.
I'm not really excited, given the current track record. X-COM was okay, but not great, because it's not easily moddable, Civ 5 with add-ons still isn't as good as Civ4BTS...we shall see.

I loved Civ V, 300+ hours into it. I never played any of the other Civs so I guess that's why I liked it so much? I'm really looking forward to this game.
