Yeah, thanks for the info, but I'm gonna have to go with abstinence in regards to Civ5 for now...I'm fairly certain that I won't be able to take just 1 bite, and it'll ruin the planned meals. I'm still interested in hearing how people compare it to the older games, though.

To compound the problem, I woke up this morning to a dead PC.... per quick investigation before work, it looks like my CPU fried overnight.

I am validating now at work, but a 1GB patch will take for ever with my 3G connection through phone.

it might be the extra content for deluxe versions, so you might not have to unless you bought it too.

Thanks for the heads up minmaster, I'm downloading the patch now which is going at 283KB/S so hopefully I can play when I get home from work later tonight.

dumb question here, does steeam works mean its like the orange box? Basically buy the game anywhere and steam allows you to re-download in the future if you choose. I have a feeling I could put this aside and revisit it years later. Please no talk about if steam goes out of business and such.

wow the game is taxing my gtx 460 pretty good. temps go higher than when i'm playing fps games. of course i maxed out all the settings. i might have to bump down AA to 2x.
