Anyone claim hail damage before, more specific with state farm?

I was wondering the process on their end, I figure I call and then they either drive to meet me or I take it to one of their claim spots to get it checked and they cut me a check . I read some companies make you do your own homework like get 3 quotes and they average it out.

I have 3 very tiny tiny dents on my hood and one on my door. You can only see them in certain light and angles. My gf said they could claim its rock chips and then I get nothing. Originally I was not claiming but it was I forgot I went from a $500 comp deduct to a $0. So I might as well get my money's worth.

Yes, on both parts.

They said to just take it to the body shop I wanted. The body shop stopped counting all of my dents at a hundred. The body shop and State Farm worked out all the details. They paid the body shop directly, minus the deductible. Zero hassles from State Farm. they have always been very easy to deal with.

That said, I would get a quote yourself before filing a claim. Four dents fixed by paintless dent removal may be less than your deductible. Oh, your deductible is $0. Well, I would still get a quote yourself. It may be worth to avoid showing a claim filed.

So state farm never saw the car/damage done? Its a weird situation I'm in. I can live with the 3 minor dings, I get pissed every time I see it but its not the end of the world. I think it would cost $150 at a PDR guy, most do it per panel.

State Farm. Took it to a body shop, they handled the claim. Paid my deductible and that was it.

The body shop could have sent them pictures. Otherwise, no they never saw the car.

3 dings aren't due to hail damage and getting those fixed by a paintless dent removal guy will be far less than your deductible plus not risk raising your rates in the future.

Like I said PDR guy most likely can knock it out for $150 ish.

But I have a zero deductible! If I had a $250/$500 then it would be a no brainer.

Very true but I've heard on comp. Coverage it should not raise rates.

Well, yes and no. State Farm has "no claim for x years" discounts that you don't qualify for.

They don't "raise your rates" but you lose a discount for an effective raise if you have that discount to start with.

your car better be damn perfect to make a claim that is less than 200 bucks...

It would be considered comp. that doesn't it mean it won't potentially raise your rates. As I know insurance, it doesn't go against you in terms of losing your coverage, but it can go against you for rate increases.

For 3 dings that can only be seen in certain light, IMHO you would be a fool to make a claim.

OP be careful, insurance rules are different from state to state so unless you find someone with the same company in the same state as you... Even thought they may be right for their state and company they could be wrong advice for you.

Just A FYI

We are not in the hot heat of the summer yet, but many hail dents when left in the hot sun will tend to come out on their own. I've had cars with terrible hail dents come back to about 50 or 60% or better just by leaving the car in the hot sun.

THAT right there was what my father said when i asked him what i should do. I guess i'll just do it out of pocket. One of the local shops normally have their yearly BBQ and invite a PDR guy out.

I'm not even remotely doing fraud. I have coverage, damage was ACTUALLY done. Its a legit claim, worthless claim but very legit. I somewhat feel dumb now for have a ZERO deduct on this.
