Chief Justice John Roberts announced that Thomas would not take part shortly after the court sat for arguments in a public corruption case Monday morning. As a side note, the Republican majority appears to be set to totally gut this anti-bribery/anti-corruption law, likely making it unconstitutional to charge a politician (or judge) with corruption. Go MAGA court, which cannot distinguish any difference between an apple for the teacher and a $13k kickback payment for government contracts.

(Edit: just to be clear, the apple was a real example in the briefs. And the court in fact seems to be set to make the kickback payment legal, just as they previously legalized almost all bribes)
