He's back and even talking. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...e-court-unexplained-absence-back/73340329007/
If Thomas suddenly dies on January 18th,Trump has inexplicably won the 2024 election, but Democrats hold the Senate; I want Democrats to approve a Biden Scotus replacement on January 19th.Maybe...but with the 3 independents, the Democrats control the Senate 48-3-49, so MAYBE Joe could get a USSC pick through before the election.

Theoretically what would it look like if Joe suddenly had two SC picks and he flipped the court?
That’s some Dark Brandon Shit that could happen.Theoretically what would it look like if Joe suddenly had two SC picks and he flipped the court?
Specifically what would it look like if the court reinstated Roe? How would the Christo-Fascists handle that upset? I see stuff burning...
we'd all be trippin Ballz!Wait are you saying I am dropping acid?
Isn't the new congress sworn in early January? It's an impossibility that the Democrats could hold the senate while losing the presidency. If Thomas suddenly dies on January 18th,Trump has inexplicably won the 2024 election, but Democrats hold the Senate; I want Democrats to approve a Biden Scotus replacement on January 19th.
Absolutely, but the president has to make the nomination...then the senate can vote on it...Isn't the new congress sworn in early January? It's an impossibility that the Democrats could hold the senate while losing the presidency.
I can hear the tributes now, "He died doing what he loved best . . . going on luxury vacations on some rich old fuck's dime."
It's completely possible. You don't tick a box to vote for only democrat or only Republican. Most of us likely do vote in such a manner, but we're also very politically partisan people who post on a political forum.Isn't the new congress sworn in early January? The possibility is so small that it is likely statistically insignificant. The chance that the Democrats hold the Senate without very high turnout is very low. If Democrats somehow manage to keep the Senate, Biden is going to win by a HUGE margin. It's completely possible. You don't tick a box to vote for only democrat or only Republican. The senate is way harder to win than the presidency for the Democrats, which is why I'm still pissed they never admitted DC and Puerto Rico as states to chip away at how stacked the deck is in favor of the GOP in the senate. Democrats had to win a wave election with enormous turnout in 2020 just to get to 50 in the senate. The entire country is partisan. It's completely possible. Oddly enough low turnout probably helps Democrats now due to shifts in voter ID. There's going to be people, hopefully not many, that are angry at Joe for his Israel support but otherwise vote Democratic (they're all over Reddit and Threads, but I can't say if they're for real or troll farms). So we could end up with good Democratic voter turn out that swings Senate elections, but still doesn't get Biden re-elected. I hope it's a Democratic sweep at all levels, but we won't know until the votes are counted.Oddly enough low turnout probably helps Democrats now due to shifts in voter ID. That being said you are correct that the odds of the Democrats holding the Senate while losing the presidency are very low - split ticket voting used to be fairly common but is not anymore and if Democrats are performing well enough to win Senate races in pretty red states that implies they are doing very well nationally, which should carry Biden.
Trump being an outright fascist turns out a lot of people who wouldn't have shown up to vote for candidates like Romney that are only closeted fascist, which probably more than offsets that so high turnout is a must.Oddly enough low turnout probably helps Democrats now due to shifts in voter ID. Saying low turnouts are beneficial doesn’t mean for Democrats to not turn out their voters, it just recognizes if you look at the recent special elections where democrats did so well they were low turnout affairs.Trump being an outright fascist turns out a lot of people who wouldn't have shown up to vote for candidates like Romney that are only closeted fascist, which probably more than offsets that so high turnout is a must.
