Is it common courtesy for every A&T forum member to ensure that their signatures do not misquote or offend?
My curiosity regarding this topic was peaked when I received a PM from a moderator who threatened me to either amend or delete my signature based on, in so many words, selective quoting. While I feel that my original "mis-quote" essentially conveys the same message from the quoted individual as what I've recently amended, I'm yearning to learn more about this topic in order to avoid future infractions!
For a period of time, a poster on these forums had carried on with a signature that quoted me to be a "HUGE i love you." While I personally love fashion and theatre, my forum personality being described as a "HUGE i love you" on the internet is certainly not an accurate nor a "pure of heart" description of my heterosexual passion for womyn. In fact, the quote which this randy poster had quickly picked up on was a mere typo. I'm a "HUGE FAN" of many things (theatre, baseball, 2nd amendment rights, evolution theory, racial profiling, Nancy Pelosi's inner thighs, etc.)
While I found this selective, derogatory and malicious abuse of the signature feature offensive to me at the time, I did not raise the issue with any of the keepers of this forum. Should I assume that such abuse of the signature feature is corrected/punished only when complaints are made to forum moderators, or do forum moderators choose to single-out the offending signatures based on their personal assessment of the topic, poster, and context?
