Has anyone else browsed the selection of old Sega Genesis games on Steam? If so, any recommendations? I had a system way back int he day but I don't recognize a lot of those games. So what's good people?

Shining Force and Streets of Rage. Their collection is kind of odd--missing some real classics.

If they have Phantasy Star 4 I'd go for that (haven't looked). 1-3 decent too, but 4 was the best.

Cool, I'll definitely have to check this out when I get home to see the prices. I played the crap out of my Genesis when I was a kid, so I'd love to grab some games for nostalgia if nothing else if they are nice and cheap.

Another good thing about the updated SEGA games is they support the 360 controller.

PS3? PS3 was terrible D: I played for like half an hour before I decided it was so bad I couldn't play through the rest of it. 2 and 4 were great. I especially played the death out of 4 even though there wasn't a whole lot of customization... at this point I've probably beaten it over 10+ times. Might not sound impressive for such a short game but given my age...

Unfortunately they don't have any PS titles.

Whoops, I meant 2. I'm not sure I've played 3, but I played through 2 about 5 times. Such an amazing game.

Sorry, it's been a while, my old brain forgets which game was which.

Go back and play PS1 on SMS too. That game was incredibly awesome for the time.

I have fond memories of Phantasy Star 2. I can hear that damn music in my head right now.

I think that Beyond Oasis was awesome, it was the Genesis' Link to the Past in my opinion. From the Steam's collection I would pick up Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe II, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Vectorman and Comix Zone. It'd be nice if they had Jurassic Park, Robocop VS The Terminator, Road Rash II and General Chaos as well, there were so many other good games on the Sega Genesis, good times.

Fortunately I don't have to buy a single one of them since I own about 40+ Genesis titles, although I don't play them regularly, I still play some every now and then, and when I do it usually doesn't last very long, I tend to get bored fast with them so I try not to push it too much, I just play about one or two hours maximum and I don't play any of them for a week or two. It was awesome back in the days however, of course, I could stay up all night and play games on my Genesis, well in fact I did, many times, and I don't regret it one bit.

Almost grabbed Sword of Vermillion and, well crap I can't remember the name of the other RPG I was looking at. It had a funny looking wizard talking to you in the screenshot? I remember liking it on the Genesis, but the name escapes me at this time. I was hoping for better game packs, but there were lots of games I had no interest in. I was also hoping they would have Wonder Boy in Monster Land, but I can't recall if that was on Genesis, for some reason I think it was. :hmm: I'd buy that instantly.

Loved all of the Phantasy Star's, but PS1 blew me away. That was the RPG that really got me into RPGs for years to come. It was way ahead of it's time.

The Shining Force stuff was pretty decent from what I remember. They were early SEGA strategy RPG games from what I remember.

Oh yeah, Herzog Zwei was freaking awesome. Actually, now that I think about it that probably was the first RTS game I ever played, but I had no idea what an RTS was back then.

I'm also hoping they bring Super Hydlide to Steam. I played that game a lot when I was a kid, but I could never finish it; the last boss always owned me. I want another chance to kick that guy's ass!

Herzog Zwei was like proto-RTS. I don't think anything remotely resembling a modern RTS had come out before then.
