What i like the most of start10 is the lack of animation.

It is just : BAM ! It is there.
No fading in animations that annoy me that the default windows 10 menu has.

edit:
After some digging, it is possible to disable all animation in windows 10.

For me, for now, Classic Shell is working on 1703 .. When and if I need to replace it I would probably try Start10 .. It is certainly inexpensive enough. How does it look compared to Classic Shell ? ?

CS is working fine for me on 1709 and I cringe at the thought that some future update will render it inoperable. I really wish that MS would integrate it into 10 and give the user the choice as to what menu they wish to use.

I think my laptop will be forced to 1709 soon. Classic Shell may or may not work fine. Some have issues, some not. Also look into this program -- originally for Windows 8 but the link below says it works for Windows 10 ... and it is free. So maybe someone here can test it on 1709 and see how it looks and works.

That sucks, but hopefully it gets picked back up. What I'd like to see is a program that makes windows 10 to look more like XP - like the whole UI not just some parts. I hate that UI, too white and too blocky, and overall everything is just too big and unintuitive and not enough definition to differentiate different UI elements. Like no borders etc.

I don't really use windows much anymore but Classic Shell is one of the first things I install on any windows 8/10 installation.

Red, Have a look at my post #30 .... Give that program a try and let us know how it looks and works for windows 10 .. I know the link & home page say win 8 but the download says Win10 as well. It is freeware.

I just noticed that there are startbuttons to download for start10.
For example you can use an Nvidia or AMD logo as startbutton or a glassy mixture of the windows 7 and windows 10 startbutton.
But you can also make your own since start10 allows to import any png image that is compatible.

i also found a way to have the win10 search option available on the taskbar.

Just disable "Hide taskbar search" in the start10 desktop options.
Then you will get that hidious taksbar input field.
Then alternate click on the taskbar select search and "show pictogram"
You get the magnifier icon back.
And then you can have the best of both worlds.
The advanced search from windows 10 (when it works) and the start10 menu.

What I'd like to see is a program that makes windows 10 to look more like XP .

Choose Classic Style, then on Skin tab, choose Windows XP Luna, Small Icons option.

Which one is Start10 ? ? If it does not disable Cortana, there are other utilities like Ultimate Windows Tweaker that can do it (and much more)

It is an AMD folder with the uninstall application in it.

Holy crap......Are you sure you aren't using Windows 95? Of course I am poking fun but man that looks terribly difficult to navigate. Not to mention all those icons in the taskbar. How many desktop icons do you have? I am genuinely curios.

That's the only way I can live through Windows 8 and on. Well, I guess Microsoft is f'd.

No very easy to find things for me. And the most used or needed are on the desktop, such as web browsers, ms office (word, excel, outlook), winrar, photoshop and some shortcuts to system items and tweaks. For me it is just fine.

If it works and you like it then that is what really matters. I prefer a more streamlined approach. This is what my current Win10 desktop looks like.
