Agreed, there are also special chamois-like cloths that you can pick up at BBY/CC that won't scratch, don't use something like a paper towel. Also, don't apply any pressure, be very gentle.

I just use a microfiber cloth. It's the same one I use for my glasses and my camera lenses. If the smudge/dirt is really persistant, I just add a little water. So far I've been able to clean everything I get on it, including the occasional bug guts (annoying little gnats in the middle of the night ). Just have to remember to wash the mf cloth regularly.

take a pen and draw over any smudges...try to push hard...

i'd clean it with some water (on a rag) and dry it with a towel...be careful though

I USE PAPER TOWELS !! the very soft ones...add a little touch of isopropyl alcohol, not so fancy, just a light rub or dust off effect on the LCD while it's OFF.

and you likely have tiny little scratches if you look closely . . . paper scratches plastic

[of course, there are "paper towels" made from cloth that won't scratch]

I rub hard for 15 minutes with a moist paper towel, I get the paper towel wet with water. I don't see any scratches, the monitor is clean and streak free.

I've cleaned my LCD just like a CRT: use a damp cloth and apply as little pressure as possible. I don't have any issues with it.

Some really soft lint free cloth, like those glasses cleaning cloth. I usually use alcohol to cut any grease and grime that may have accumulated (I eat at the computer table a lot, and sometimes these tiny bugs are attracted to the LCD and I have to squish the annoying bastids). Don't use any abrasive cloths or towels and definitely don't use any abrasive cleaning products like bleach and acetone.

Ammonia wipes do the trick for me. They're anti-static wipes that can be found at any wal-mart type store.

just use 50% alcohol and 50% distilled water like other posters mentioned + a lint-free cloth.
