Hello everyone,

I recently finished building a new case for my computer. My goal is to make this a marketable product and sell them in the next couple months. What I am looking for is some feedback about how you like the design, what you would like changed and whether anyone would be interested in purchasing one. I personlly think it is a great looking case, but I was wondering if there is enough interest to make selling these work out (I'm having them laser cut and need to do it in large runs, and don't want to have dozens of these sitting around not selling).

Here are some pictures of the case:

interesting, but to be honest i'm not sure how marketable it really is. with small form factor pc's like the shuttle cases and stuff, and the bevy of acrylic clear cases out there, i'm not sure where your case would fit in.

Get rid of anything grey or gray. Some of those cables detract from the visual impact. A clear case is all about visuals. Anything that is different will have appeal to a niche.

You won't know ifthe idea is profitable until you test market it. Business can be brutal. At least your case doesn't look like the Antec/Chieftec used by Alienware and everyone else.

Your laser cutter should appreciate your business as much as you appreciate your buyers.

Your website could use a little polish, but I assume you already knew that.

Thanks for the input
Oroo Oroo: Thats actually why im not sure if it would fit in or not, there are lots of small form factors cases and clear computers, but this is the only small form factor clear computer I've seen.
TRUMPHENT: I agree, I don't have much wire management in my case, I havent gotten around to it since I moved my computer to a new case over the summer so the pictures of my computer might not do justice to the potential of the case. The website is pretty ugly, but I don't want to make it better until I am sure that I will be selling these.
Thanks, Steve

I run the united devices client so im at 100% system load at all times. My processor is a 2.4 p4 overclocked to 2.7 ghz, and the temps tend to run 44* cpu, 35* system with ambient air at 22*. I can turn up my cpu fan and get better temps on it but i don't like the noise. HTH -Steve

the only concern i would have is airflow and HSF compatibilty

maybe u can run some tests comparing cpu temps and case temps vs a traditional case

if the temps are close, i would get this over most other cases out there

how many hard drives can you put in it?
how big of a heatsink/fan can you put in it?
is it microatx/atx compatible?

it looks really cramped in there.
the reason why people buy acryllic is that they wanna show off the insides.
in a cramped case like that, it's hard to make things look sexy.
i'd focus on making that thing look as nice as possible.

otherwise, it'd just be better as an opaque case, in which case we've already got shuttle.

I would be interested in a larger version that would fit my watercooling. Because the clear factor lets you show the guts of your rig I'm sure many watercoolers would be interested, although we require tons of space

Soja: It is a little crapped on space, but we are trying to enter a market where no clear computers exist. If we were to make a big cube it would be competeing with the other clear cases out there.
sugarkang: It an fit up to 4 hdd's.
Here is a link to a picture that shows the clearance for a heatsink: Pic
It is micro atx compatible.

ok, lemme comment on this from a business PoV

The market is pretty saturated with these right now, so what's ur edge?

Revenue = Price x Volume

So, u need to either charge a premium (not a good idea unless u're Lian-Li) and sell to select clientele OR sell lots of them at cheap prices (which may not happen since your target market: people who want clear cases ^ small cases is pretty small)

You'd have more luck selling your cubes to vendors like SVC or Xoxide to rebadge as their own.

Think of something in the lines of clear mods for PSUs ... not much in the design/idea field, but they sell well! Maybe clear covers for CD/DVD/floppy drives?

Vonkhan: I agree with you that the market is saturated with clear cases, which is my concern. But i do think that we do have a niche in the market. To my knowlege no small form factor clear cases are readily availble. I think this might appeal to LAN party people, and some people who want a cool computer but are at a premium for space. I for instance live in a little room and have a really small desk at college, so i appreciate the small size. Also the idea of selling them to rebadge is another good idea, I have been concidereing that for a while, and will get in contact with those companys when I have something to send them.
Thanks for the feedback, -Steve

That's an awesome idea

Piggy back on Shuttle's popularity by making clear cases that replace Shuttle's casing!
