should be in all fry's (stock will vary ofcourse), i picked up mine at the sacramento fry's, i was tempted to clear all of them, but bought only 1 and left the others for some fellow AT'ers to take advantage of this good deal, although this has been posted in fatwallet too, so you need to act fast

nice deal, yeah my friend actually called me about this yesterday. He checked and it seemed like Sac was the only store that had any left.

Fry's has some good deals when stuff goes on clearance. Also they tend to have items that they sell below cost just to get heads into the stores.

absolutely, they had some decent motherboards for very cheap too (some as low as 10$) . I also picked up a brand new pentax lens that retails for over 200 for 70 a few weeks back

when did this even go on clearance? I stopped by the palo alto store really early and they didn't have any in stock. They told me it's been on clearance for a while? :s

At the Anaheim Fry's this morning, they only had open box E6300's and they were $35 each. There were two left at that time. Probably long gone by now.

None left at the Plano location. the clerk did tell me however that they have a few (most likely e6600s) at Arlington. Alas, too far from where I live (Richardson)

if you need those chips, you better make a mad dash now

So.... I made it to the Renton, WA Fry's an hour or so ago and no dice on the retail e6300 or e6600... what they did have was a single "tray" left for the e6600 and one for the e6320 so I bought both. The e6600 was $70 and the e6320 was $40 and each came in just the plastic clamshell. I assume these are returns as I don't think retail stores normally sell OEM chips. Of course, being Fry's they could have lied to me and have a pallet of new retail boxes in the back and are laughing at the fool who bought returned oem chips over a box...

So my questions are these; the receipt says 1 year warranty on each, do I go through intel for this warranty? And if so, did the warranty start the day they were manufactored or does it go by sale date?

I'm not sure if I should keep them since I don't have a spare mobo to test them right now and I don't feel like taking apart my e8400 setup I just finished (anyone have a link for a cheap, decent 775 mobo?).

Picked of one of the last two e6600 for $75. Opened box but I have at 400 x 9 . Good deal! The fry's in Fountain Valley has one more e6600 left. I think one E6420 left or E6340 for $30-40. Not sure the about the right model. Lets just say the discontinued conroe.

It's the E6320.

This morning on outpost.com they had the E6700 for $80 but it's seems like it's gone now.

Sorry I would but I returned my E4500 and ecs combo to get this and little bit of extra cash.

There's one more open box E6600 in fountain valley and E6320. Maybe you can help Iseki and sell him one if he doesn't mind the E6320.

Well, I called ahead of time in the morning and he said they had plenty. But when I got there, there was only 1 open box so I said fine.

Now I have to drive my butt all the way back there again to return it :sigh;

So those of you who are going to the Fountain Valley one, don't get the open box e6600! It's broken and I know those idiots at Fry's will put it back in the inventory!

Nope. The guys at the Irving store told me the same thing, but when I called Arlington, they said they were all sold. All of the Core 2 Duo clearance items in DFW were sold out by 12:30pm (assuming that the information I got over the phone was correct).

On the bright side, I was able to get some Athlon 64 3500+ Socket AM2 retail box processors (all of them were open box) for $15 each, along with some Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket AM2 retail box processors (all sealed) for $35 each.

There's no reason why retail stores can't sell OEM chips. Fry's and Microcenter do it all the time.

If a retail box processor has been returned, it will still be in the box when Fry's sells it to the next customer. (It might be perfectly pristine, or it might look like it has been shipped to China and back.) If an item has been returned, Fry's is required to label it as such, and they're pretty good about doing that. So you should be able to tell exactly what you're getting.

Fry's offers a 15-day return policy on all processors. As long as you don't break off any pins, you can return the processor for any reason. After 15 days, retail box processors must be returned to the manufacturer for warranty claims. Intel requires proof of purchase, so I assume they go by the date of purchase. OEM processors are covered directly by Fry's for one year from the date of purchase. Most retailers offer similar terms.

damn, I so should have asked them if they had a similar deal on AMD processors. I have a spare ECS LGA775 mobo, but at that price I could easily go AMD instead...

Thanks for the info though I'm still worried about these. They are not even open box, just in the plastic clamshell cases. Also, it's fairly obvious they have both been used as the corners are slightly worn down on both of them. I hope to get a new board sometime in the 15 day window to do some testing on these to make sure they actually post.
