We've changed the way we do things many times, from landowners voting to universal white male suffrage, to the end of slavery, to direct election of Senators, to Women's suffrage & more universal suffrage through the voting rights acts.
I think we've held more closely to the principles of Democracy in every instance. It's been a work in progress & this is no different.
Electoral college majorities that are not established by a popular vote majority are corrosive to the legitimacy of our govt, to the way we see govt. They fly in the face of our principles.
